Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Plans, organizes and supervises all pharmaceutical services in accordance with established policies and procedures of the hospital. Pharmacy director is responsible for the maintenance of pharmacy computer systems and continual upgrades. Assumes full responsibility for fiscal audit and processing of pharmaceutical invoices, making determinations regarding pharmaceutical cost accounting and volume procurement and dispensing in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer. Plans, establishes, manages and coordinates the drug information service. Develops, implements and maintains an ongoing criteria-based Performance Improvement program which monitors the quality and appropriateness of pharmaceutical services at Norristown State Hospital. Submits monthly, quarterly and annual PI reports which include finding of items monitored, corrective actions to be taken, effectiveness of the program and recommendations for future items to be monitored. Is responsible for supervising the completion and evaluation of drug utilization evaluations from the statewide P T & F Committee, as well as the local P & T Committee. Plans, establishes, manages and coordinates training programs for pharmacy and other hospital personnel as related to pharmacy issues. Assumes full responsibility and is accountable for proper oversight of controlled substance as required by Federal, State and DEA Regulations. Develops and presents to the Administration specific plans regarding current and projected needs. Takes necessary action to satisfy these needs. Operates a Pyxis system and communicates using electronic medical records. ADA Essential Job Functions: Seeing small print, numbers, on paper and on computer screen.
