Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Maintains animal health programs and provides clerical and office support for the Bureau of Animal Health and Diagnostic Services.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Coordinate the Bureau’s Aquaculture licensing programs including aquaculture dealers and aquaculture propagators.

Maintain knowledge of Bureau regulations and PA Fish and Boat regulations in relation to the aquaculture programs. Determine if participants are meeting requirements to receive an aquaculture license.

Prepare monthly report on licensed eel dealers for correspondence with PA Fish and Boat Commission.

Coordinate the Bureau’s Taxidermy licensing program.

Review and make decisions on taxidermy applications.

Maintain knowledge of Bureau regulations, PA Game Commission requirements, and USDA Fish and Wildlife Services' regulations as they relate to taxidermy in order to make decisions on licensing.

Train other clerical staff on the licensing process in CoreOne for Animal Health.

Process license checks and prepare transmittals.

Serves as back up for processing Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVIs) for cats, dogs, bovine, camelids, cervids, avian, and exotic species.

Maintain knowledge of Bureaus animal import requirements and respond to inquiries regarding animal importation.

Data entry of premises and people records in CoreOne for Animal Health.

Responds to Right-to-Know Law requests regarding CVI and CoreOne for Animal Health data.

Maintain knowledge of what constitutes proprietary information on a CVI in order to separate them for Right-to-Know office review.

Serves as back up for rabies data entry.

Serves as back up distributing electronic identification (EID) tags to regional staff, veterinarians, and tagging sites.

Serves as back up for entering EID tag distribution records into CoreOne for Animal Health.

Receive and process milk ring producer action reports.

Receives telephone calls and provides the information requested or transfers the call to the appropriate office or work station in the bureau or the department.

Back up for answering the sick bird hot line during HPAI response.

Monitor Bureau's resource accounts and responds to voice and email messages.

Serves as back up for sorting and distributing mail for the bureau.

Assist with any other activities in the division and the bureau as duties required.

Mobilizes as needed for Emergency Operations roles deemed by the Bureau or Department. Work hours and duties during Emergency Operations may change to 12-hour shifts on weekdays, holidays, and weekends.

Demonstrate a commitment to meeting and exceeding expectations of the Bureau's customer at all times.

Apply Lean tools to day-to-day tasks when a process has been identified for improvement.

Approves or denies applications for aquaculture licenses based on knowledge of Bureau regulations and PA Fish and Boat Commission regulations.

Approves or denies applications for taxidermy licenses based on knowledge of Bureau regulations, PA Game Commission, and USDA Fish and Wildlife Services regulations.

Answers animal importation questions including whether an animal is approved for importation to Pennsylvania or not based on current importation regulations.
