Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The employee assigned to this position performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance, repair and installation of electrical equipment, motors, appliances, elevators, fire alarm systems, fiber optics, telecommunications, distribution & switch gear systems, and other related equipment in support of the overall goals and objectives of the Maintenance Department. Must have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and constructive working relationship with all Ebensburg Centers staff and individuals.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Maintains, repairs and installs electrical fixtures, conduit runs, transformers, fuse and breaker disconnect panels, lights switches, receptacles, batteries, single phase and multi-phase motors and/or any new equipment that needs an electrical connection, appliances, dishwashing machines, relays, contacts, dietary equipment, elevators, safety switches, lighting fixtures, electrical wiring and disconnects, motor contacts, blocks, gears, pulley belts, receptacles, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, fire alarms, terminal boxes, control cabinets, electrical circuits and , emergency generators, fans, dietary equipment, circuits, compressors, fiber optics, telecommunications/data lines, distribution & switch gear systems and electrical components of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment by direction of a written work order, preventive maintenance work order or verbal direction of a supervisor. Will assist Medium Voltage Electrician as needed or directed by the Medium Voltage Electrician Foreman in order to maintain the equipment in a safe and operating condition. Work will be monitored by the Medium Voltage Electrician Foreman in order to meet all Federal and State codes and keep equipment in good repair before a major breakdown occurs in order to ensure the safe and proper operation of equipment. Pre-tests, for safety, all electrical appliances/equipment purchased by the individuals. Estimates labor, time and materials associated with assigned projects. Performs all other tasks as assigned.

Essential Functions

 1. Be able to perform skilled journeyman level work in trade assigned.
 2. Be able to interpret sketches, diagrams and work orders.
 3. Be able to identify defects and make appropriate repairs.
 4. Be able to effectively communicate, interpret, comprehend and understand written and oral instructions.
 5. Be able to use, care, operate and maintain tools and equipment used to accomplish the trade.
 6. Be able to perform heavy manual work such as moving tools, equipment and materials to accomplish the job.
 7. Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., if work requires lifting excess of 50 lbs., seek help from co-workers or mechanical device.
 8. Be able to bend, stretch and climb into equipment or work in confined spaces and be able to ascend, descend, and work from ladder.
 9. Be able to work in extreme temperatures and humidity.
 10. Be able to be fitted, trained and use respirator protection for dealing with hazardous materials encountered by the trade.
