Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is located at Fort Indiantown Gap. It is responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Perform skilled electrical work at journey level in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.

Locate and correct power failures and short circuits.

Replace 110/220 volt circuit breakers.

Run new electrical lines as required or directed.

Lay out and install electrical conduits for power and lighting; measure, cut, thread, bend rigid/thin wall conduit for most electrical jobs.

Install open and concealed wire and lighting fixtures; install new and old fluorescent and LED light fixtures, replace ballasts as required.

Replace single and 3-way switches and receptacles.

Install air conditioners and service both old and new units.

Read blueprints and install wiring as directed.

Prepare material lists for each assigned job.

Functions as a lead worker over assigned helpers who are assisting in various phases of the work.

Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition. Perform preventive maintenance or make minor repairs to assigned tools and equipment, such as cleaning, oiling, and adjusting.

Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to supervisor.

Perform other related duties as required.

Maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening

Essential Functions

 1. Perform all work using Personal Protective Equipment & safety practices
 2. Lift, carry, and move heavy items with or without assistance
 3. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; use hand radio and telephone
 4. Observe and report potentially needed repairs; respond to electrical emergencies day or night
 5. Work in hazardous conditions involving confined spaces, electrical currents, heights, etc.
 6. Use and maintain hand/power tools and equipment (wire cutters, screwdrivers, electricity monitoring tools, etc.)
 7. Perform repetitive physical motions; bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, twist, reach, pull, push, climb, walk, grasp and stand on hard surfaces
 8. Work in various weather conditions and in areas with poor lighting.
 9. Perform mathematic calculations and measurements; read and interpret blueprints, instructions, gauges and meters.
 10. Travel to locations not served by public transportation
