Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. This position performs skilled journeyman level work in a variety of the building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, groundskeeping, welding, and masonry trades in the construction, maintenance and repair to buildings, facilities, and equipment throughout Pennsbury Manor Historic Site. This position may be required to lead a small group of laborers in their performance of assigned tasks. Performs general maintenance of the museum, visitor center, manor, Crozier and kitchen houses, maintenance shop and historic site buildings to include waysides, and static displays. This includes, but is not limited to, routine cleaning of the buildings, restrooms, and their contents (less historic objects) as well as general repair and replacement maintenance to exhibits as directed, and waysides. Also assists the FOS and other museum staff in the installation, cleaning and repair of museum exhibits and exhibit furniture as well as minor cleaning and repairs to site vehicles. Performs routine electrical maintenance and repairs and assists the FOS in the completion of projects involving the same. Installs electric circuits, outlets, ballasts, panelboard switches, indoor and outdoor lighting fixtures, and general wiring in accordance with N.E.C. Installs, reconditions, repairs all electrical equipment, including internet and phone equipment and lines. Cuts grass using lawn care equipment in both historic and non-historic areas of Pennsbury Manor. This includes but is not limited to grass cutting, string trimming, edging, path maintenance, cleanup of grounds, limb and leaf removal, plantings, and basic landscaping to include similar tasks to keep the areas well maintained and safe. Performs routine plumbing maintenance and repairs and assists the FOS in the completion of projects involving the same. Installs and maintains plumbing fixtures, commode mechanisms, spigots, drainpipes, and all other plumbing fixtures in accordance with acceptable plumbing trade standards; maintains steam lines; and measures, cuts, threads and installs pipe for steam/heating and water lines. Completes minor carpentry, construction, and metalworking projects using power equipment such as power saws, sanders, drills, and drill presses, and other tools. Repairs doors, door frames, and furniture; fabricates and installs temporary partitions; builds forms; and operates and maintains wood lathe, sanders, jointer, power saw, planer, and related power and hand tools to perform assigned carpentry duties. Paints and decorates interiors and exteriors of buildings; and performs masonry work in connection with buildings, walks, and walls. Assists in the management of the grounds maintenance program, which includes care and cutting of turf areas, shrub maintenance and replacement, tree trimming and removal, roadway, parking lot and walkway maintenance, as well as winter snow removal. Also responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of a variety of outdoor maintenance equipment including turf mowers, industrial tractors, golf carts and utility vehicles, truck mounted snow plow, and hand power tools associated with outdoor grounds maintenance. Assists the FOS, and in his absence, actively manages a multifaceted group of HVAC and Fire and Security systems in the site’s buildings, to include automated building control systems boiler heating system, the air handling system, the air conditioning & humidification systems, and the fire suppression sprinkler system. On call for emergencies 24 hours per day for police and fire response. Makes repairs to roofs and installs flashing and spouts. Knowledge in the operation of Pennsbury Manor water filtration equipment. Logs daily water use, mixes chemicals and checks chlorine and PH levels. Removes snow from sidewalks and parking lots using basic snow removal equipment. Responds to emergencies in/at Pennsbury Manor and support functions to include boarding doors, windows, roofs, etc., with the objective being to provide security until permanent repairs can be completed. Utilizes and interprets blueprints when performing various duties and assignments that require blueprints. Ability to learn and use basic Desktop applications, such as Outlook, SAP-LSO training. Completes various forms and reports as required. Performs related work as required. Incumbent is responsible to be familiar with PHMC general safety rules and safety rules specific to this position; for working in a safe manner and following all PHMC safety rules; immediately report all workplace injuries or incidents to their supervisor; and to immediately correct any safety hazards in the work area or report same to supervisor. The MR 2 supports and advances the diversity, equity, inclusion, and access goals of the agency. In coordination with, and at the direction of the Site Administrator and/or the Facilities Operations Supervisor, the MR 2 is responsible for keeping current with all Center for Disease Control, Board of Health and state/local standards and protocols related to COVID-19 and implementing same throughout the site. Other duties as assigned. |
