Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position performs maintenance and repair work at the Harrisburg Military Post, Harrisburg, PA.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Prepare interior and exterior walls, ceilings and trim for painting. Mix paint. Perform all interior and exterior painting at the armory (walls, floors, ceilings, trim, doors, window frames, etc.).

Install and repair sinks, faucets, urinals, water heaters, pumps, valves, drains, commodes, etc. Monitor regularly recurring backflow preventer tests and request tests when necessary. Cut, install and solder copper pipe and fittings; cut, thread and install black iron and galvanized pipe and fittings; and cut and install plastic pipe and fittings.

Perform all rough and finish carpentry work such as remodeling rooms, lowering ceilings, installing paneling and floor tiles, installing and finishing drywall, repairing holes in walls, repairing furniture, repairing and replacing windows, window screens and panes, fixing doors and locks and installing doors.

Install and replace electric circuits, circuit panels, wall plugs and lighting fixtures. Install and rewire dusk-to-dawn lighting system. Install or move receptacles and switches. Change light bulbs and ballasts. Monitor and perform maintenance on fire alarm, fire suppression and security systems and request service and inspections when necessary.

Build forms, mix concrete, pour into forms and finish. Mix mortar, place block and brick, and finish joints. Repair concrete and masonry.

Repair and service ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning and heating systems. Correct any problems with systems when necessary. Service and repair kitchen equipment and appliances.

Monitor building automatic temperature control (ATC) and other automated systems.

Monitor roofs for wear and needed replacements. Repair leaks in all types of roofs.

Operate and maintain electrical, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, HVAC, painting, grounds keeping and custodial tools and equipment.

Perform cleaning duties as needed such as move furniture; dust furniture and other fixtures; wash and wax floors; clean windows, walls, ceilings and latrines; empty trash, etc. Replace lavatory supplies.

Remove snow, ice, and debris from all exterior surfaces of facility property. Mow grass and maintain landscaping.

Coordinate with State Armory Board staff or Field Construction and Maintenance Manager on use of contractors. When necessary, contact vendors or contractors for major emergency repairs. Monitor the work of contractors and submit log sheets to the Office of Facilities & Engineering (OFE) verifying work performed.

Request and maintain housekeeping supplies, monitor heating fuel levels and request refill, and maintain adequate supply of facility maintenance items. Submit verification of receipt of supplies and equipment to OFE for entry of goods receipts and property accountability.

Monitor the operation of the emergency generators, call the service contractor for maintenance or trouble shooting, and monitor the fuel levels and order fuel as needed.

Perform work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately report all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately correct any safety hazards in the work area or report same to the supervisor.

Perform other related duties as required.
