Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Provides public safety work in the field of State Park operations and outdoor recreation in order to promote the safe utilization of facilities at a State Park.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Meets with park visitors to answer questions regarding park facilities, recreational schedules, park history and environmental features, and surrounding area.

Monitors park area by various motorized vehicles, bicycle and on foot. Explains park rules, regulations, policies and procedures to park visitors and special interest groups. Informs Park Manager or DCNR Ranger if visitor actions require law enforcement actions.

Responds to emergency situations or requests for assistance from employees or visitors.

Assists with first aid, including artificial respiration and cardiopulmonary resuscitation to injured park visitors.

Maintains first aid supply and automated external defibrillator check logs.

Assists with search and rescue operations to locate lost visitors on State Park grounds and boundaries.

Monitors security of park buildings and facilities.

Assists ranger staff with cabin checks following visitor departure

Inspects buildings and park structures for safety hazards.

Assists in providing information, making reservations, issuing permits and collecting fees from park office using PRRS. Distributes camping receipts to campsites

Performs other duties as assigned.

Employee answers questions for the public regarding the park’s features and activities. They recognize and respond to emergency situations. Employee notifies Park Manager or other appropriate staff member, if they believe they have identified park rules and regulation violations or safety concerns, that require more than a minor correction.
