Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position exists for the operation and maintenance of state park facilities at Ohiopyle State Park. This position contributes to the bureau’s mission of protecting and maintaining the commonwealth’s natural resources. This is skilled work in the construction, installation, repair, restoration, and maintenance of structures and articles made from wood, composite, and wood substitute materials. This position performs duties that are routinely executed seven days a week and will be routinely scheduled to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed for park operations and to meet seasonal needs. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Performs general carpentry work including rough and finished carpentry in the alteration, repair and maintenance of all park buildings. Performs new construction or repairs to roofing, walls, flooring, furniture, cabinetry, and signs. Constructs and repairs wooden decks, ramps, steps, handrails and fences. Does structural repairs and replacements to walls, windows, doors, joists, rafters and trusses. Builds concrete forms for a variety of poured in place concrete tasks. Repairs and constructs park buildings using power and hand tools, special carpenter tools, wood lathes, jointers, planers, routers, power saws, etc. Scrapes, sands, seals, stains and paints the interior and exterior of all park buildings. Builds and repairs wood furnishings to include chairs, tables, benches, beds, and cabinets. Builds, repairs, seals, stains and paints old and new park signs, decks, bridges, kiosks, railings, fences, etc. Maintains lumber and other material inventories for the park. Reads, interprets, and follows blueprints and drawings indication construction, installation and repair specifications. An employee in this job participates in the performance of other trades’ tasks consistent with operational and organizational requirements. May help remove snow using shovels, blowers, and a variety of plowing equipment. Keeps work areas neat and tidy. Performs lead work in carpentry assignments over helpers performing basic assignments. Performs related work as needed. Operates motor vehicles. |
