The primary duty of this position is to operate equipment with the construction and maintenance of all infrastructures with in the Forest District 11 and assist with wildfire suppression duties. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. This is skilled work in the operation of specialized equipment and/or vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 – 26,000 pounds (such as, but not limited to, a backhoe, skid steer, small bulldozer, front end loader, tractor, forklift, various mowing equipment, and small dump truck). Operate vehicles and equipment for maintenance and construction of state forest roads. Operate vehicles and equipment for maintenance of grounds work, including grass mowers, brush mowers, snow removal, and cindering operations, as needed. Operate vehicles and equipment for the maintenance and construction of recreational trails. Completes safety checks, inspection of equipment, and maintains vehicle logs and completes reports for review by supervisor. Analyzes and determines proper methods and equipment to complete assigned tasks in an efficient manner. Demonstrates safe operation of assigned equipment to other employees. Follow all Erosion and Sedimentation Plans. Utilize and follow all PA 1 Calls. Performs manual work when not operating equipment. Work involves active participation in equipment and preventative maintenance duties and performance of related work of both an unskilled and skilled nature. Work also includes active participation with installation of culverts, signs, drain tile, geo text tile fabric, gates, and seeding and mulching. Work is assigned with general instructions on a project basis, and employees proceed independently in the operation of the equipment without further instruction or assistance. Assist the wildfire program within Forest District 11, assist with wildfire prevention programs, plan, implement, and conduct wildfire control, suppression activities, assist with prescribed fire activities. Protect unique flora and fauna, geologic formations, and archeological features on the Pinchot State Forest. Other Duties as assigned. |
