This position serves a variety of maintenance functions at Reeds Gap State Park Complex including light carpentry, plumbing, and upkeep of park grounds and facilities. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. -Cleans sanitary facilities in picnic area, campgrounds, family cabins, and boating areas using broom, mop, scrub bucket, and disinfectant cleaner to complete the job order to the satisfaction of the Park Maintenance Supervisor. -Acts as helper to skilled trades workers and assists theim in performance of thier duties. -Assists with pumping and cleaning pit latrines as necessary. -Installs fire rings, lantern hangers, picnic grills, park benches and other amenities at park facilities when assigned. This includes hand digging holes and mixing concrete for proper installation. -Paints and/or stains park signs; building walls, ceilings & floors; tanks and other equipment by scraping and removing old finish, mixing and applying new paint to surface using a brush, roller. -Assists skilled tradesmen by cutting lumber to specified lengths, using power saw; mixes concrete using a power mixer; sands lumber using a power sander; to renovate buildings, replace damaged floors, etc.. -Assists skilled tradesman with construction activities, and repairs and maintenance to pool equipment, park water systems and sewage treatment systems. -Operates chain saw for cutting storm damaged and hazardous trees, trims branches off and cuts logs into specified lengths. Operates chipper for cleanup of limbs, branches, etc. -Mows grass and maintains park grounds in assigned areas by using a push mower, small riding mower, power weed-eater, and landscaping equipment to fulfill work order. -Mow and weed eat Poe Valley and Reeds Gaps drip field and sand mounds with push mower and weed eater. -Maintenance of sand filters at Poe Valley Sewer Treatment Plant as needed. -Uses park tractors to move materials to work sites and mow grass, blow leaves, clean park roads as assigned. -Picks up garbage by loading garbage bags into truck and disposing them into a dumpster. -Cleans campsites, removes ashes and debris from fire rings and picnic grills. -Picks up paper and trash on park grounds and disposes it in dumpsters. -Performs snow removal from walks using manual and power snow removal equipment. -Prunes branches on trees along park roads and trails using pruning shears and pole saw to complete a work order. -Operates licensed motor vehicles within and on roads and highways between the parks in the complex. -Replaces bulbs, shades, switches; assists with electrical maintenance and repair; oils, adjusts and cares for electrical motors. -Performs these duties and other general park maintenance duties at Reeds Gap, Poe Valley, and Poe Paddy State Parks as assigned by Supervisor. |
