Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Performs light and heavy manual laboring tasks in a variety of construction and maintenance
work. This is unskilled and limited semi-skilled manual labor.
This position performs duties that are routinely executed seven days a week and will be
required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed for park operations and to meet seasonal needs.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

An employee in this class performs semi-skilled work alone or assists a skilled worker; or may
function as lead worker for a small crew of manual workers performing routine tasks. Work
involves the use of a large variety of construction and maintenance equipment and tools in
many different tasks, which frequently require the application of skills acquired on the job.
Employees receive oral instruction and work is checked by inspection during process and upon
completion.
Digs holes and ditches with hand tools; loads trucks with sand, gravel and waste material using
a hand shovel; remove trees and brush with saw, axe or chain saw.
Mows and trims grass using power mowers or small riding tractors, powered line trimmer,
power edgers or hand tools.
Cleans restrooms, washhouses and other park buildings. Remove snow from walks, roads and
ice skating areas with hand tools, snow blower or small tractor.
Act as a helper to skilled workmen and assist them in their performance of their duties.
Make repairs to various structures and facilities using various tools of the carpentry, plumbing, painting,
electrical and other building trades in the performance of maintenance work.
Operates and maintains general park equipment; such as tractors, pumps, compressors, chain
saws and generators. Builds simple forms for cement work using carpenter tools; mixes and
places cement; finishes cement using mason tools; lays stone and block walls.
Assist in the operation of sanitary treatment plants and other specialized park facilities in a
training capacity.
Required to travel to various job locations within the complex to perform duties or deliver
materials.
Assist in taking care of buildings and grounds, paint buildings, equipment and facilities using
rollers, brushes or power sprayer. Repair screens, windows, doors and does landscaping work.
Cuts and splits firewood for cabins. Performs related duties and work of lesser classifications as
required.
This position may require you to perform your job duties at Cook Forest and/or Clear Creek
State Park.

Completes semi-skilled maintenance and construction work as assigned, or as needed. Makes
minor repairs to park facilities or equipment, or reports needed major repairs to supervisor.
