Position Purpose:

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Greets public by telephone and in person. Disseminates park information, answers park-related questions, processes registrations, etc. using a friendly, courteous, service-oriented approach. Uses e-mail to respond to some visitor requests.

Uses Activeworks Outdoors (AWO) system. Collects revenue and issues receipts at the park retail store, including tagging, stocking, etc. Collects revenue and issues permits or receipts for campsites, pavilions, point of sale purchases and boat launch permits. Prepares refund requests for Manager's review and approval. Resolves problems with visitors such as double-booking. Creates reports from AWO. Reconciles all revenues receipted on a daily basis. Brings discrepancies to the attention of the Park Manager or Administrative Assistant (AA).

Operates office machines including computer, copier, scanner, adding machine, postage scale, and facsimile machine. Types documents using given information or drafts. Proofreads typed documents to insure typographical accuracy. Disseminates information to user groups, including volunteers. Copies and collates materials, as assigned.

Performs basic, routine maintenance and cleaning of office equipment and visitor center, as assigned.

Date-stamps, sorts, and routes incoming mail. Weighs and stamps out-gong mail. Prepares packages for shipping and maintains ledger of postage stamps used on a daily basis. Files and retrieves documents. Purges files as requested. Responds or relays messages to proper individuals for incoming telephone calls. Gathers information from interest groups in the Park Manager's absence. Receives incoming complaints from visitors and forwards them to Park Manager. Responds to park user comments on area damage and notifies appropriate park personnel for repairs. Assists AA with disseminating news releases. Operates radio base communications for general park employee contact, emergencies, etc. Responds to emergencies as outlined in Park Emergency Manual. Informs ranger coming on duty of any problem situations or of any known past problem visitors or situations. As directed, passes information to, and collects information from other government agencies such as the Fish and Boat Commission, Game Commission, Bureau of Forestry, Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Employment Security, State Police, etc. Performs other duties as required.

Work is characterized by standardized duties that follow established procedures and policies. Work is assigned in writing and orally by either the AA or the Park Manager regarding projects and programs to be completed. Routine operations are completed with minimal supervision. The Employee and either the AA and/or the Park Manager meet daily to brief each other on the status of current and future operations. Further directions are given as programs and projects proceed, if needed. Documents, reports, and responses to non-routine visitor issues are prepared for review and approval by the Park Manager.
