Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. This position performs skilled journey level work in a variety of the building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, welding, and masonry trades in the construction, maintenance, and repair of park buildings, facilities, vehicles, and equipment. CARPENTRY Utilizes hand and power tools to perform rough and finish carpentry work in the maintenance, renovation, and construction of park facilities. Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, and diagrams. Installs and repairs, flooring, doors, locks, windows, roofs, siding, drywall/plaster, spouting, decks, docks, etc. PLUMBING Installs and repairs plumbing pipes, fixtures, drains, sewer lines, showers, toilets, sinks, fountains, water heaters, etc. MASONRY Builds forms, installs rebar & wire, prepares base, mixes, pours, and finishes concrete for walks, benches, foundations, etc. MECHANICAL Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to vehicles, equipment, and tools to ensure their safe and proper operation. Obtains repair estimates and schedules service at the request of the supervisor. WELDING Welds metals for fabrication and repair using Arc and MIG welders and acetylene torches. EQUIPMENT OPERATION Operates a variety of light and heavy equipment including park owned, swing, and rental equipment. Operates state-owned vehicles. Operates boats, mowers, landscaping equipment, snow removal equipment, power tools, hand tools, etc. LANDSCAPING Repairs, maintains, and creates turf areas, roads, trails, paths, walkways, etc. Plants and maintains trees, turf, and shrubbery. Removes and trims dangerous, damaged, and unwanted trees. PAINTING Prepares, paints, and stains buildings, signs, kiosks, parking areas, etc. GENERAL DUTIES Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Installs grills, fire rings, lamp posts, picnic tables, signs, kiosks, etc. PERFORMS RELATED WORK AS REQUIRED. |
