Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The Registered Dietitian plans and organizes all aspects of nutrition care for consumers. Makes recommendations for purchase of nutrition education materials and specialized foods to meet the nutrition needs of consumers. Work is performed on the grounds of Danville State Hospital under the direction of the Director of Food and Nutrition Services. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Plans and organizes the complete program of consumer nutrition care, which includes nutrition assessments, discharge planning, diet counseling, chart entries, treatment team participation, and nutrition education programs. Maintains continuing education requirements for accrediting and governing body, implements/reviews nutrition policies and procedures regarding nutrition care, with continued planning and evaluation to ensure consumers’ needs are met. Plans and writes modified diets. Monitors consumer's general acceptance of the menu. Recommends revisions to standard cycle menu. May conduct in-services on the use of modified diets and special diet products. Follows current standards of practice for nutrition care and established department policies and procedures. Attends and participates in committees and meetings regarding the clinical nutrition care of consumers; recommends appropriate nutrition regimen and interventions with other clinical modalities. Meets standards and regulations to maintain optimal consumer/patient health. Attends out-services training and maintains continuing education credits to satisfy C.D.R. requirements and Pennsylvania licensure requirements. Involved in PI programs including tray audits or peer reviews. May precept dietetic interns. Duties may include planning, teaching, and evaluating nutrition care programs for consumers, employees, professional staff, community groups and families. Maintains food service computer program records (currently Matrix Care Meal Tracker); prepares patient computerized meal tickets in absence of Clerical Assistant. Changes meal tickets to current diet prescription. Updates and develops policies and procedures related to nutrition care in conjunction with the Director of Food and Nutrition Services. Provides guidance and direction to food service staff performing work in nutrition care for consumers. Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned. May adjust weekly schedule to meet hospital needs. Submits monthly reports at department meetings. As an essential employee, if scheduled, you are required to report during a disaster or bad weather. |

Requirements Profile: Identify any specific experience or requirements, such as a licensure, registration, or certification, which may be necessary to perform the functions of the position. Example: Experience using Java; Professional Engineer License Experience: Required: Minimum BS Degree in nutrition from an accredited university and completion of an ACEND accredited Dietetic Internship (DI). Must be a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and provide annual verification or be RD Eligible with a verification statement.
