Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position provides clerical and office support for licensure application review within the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs’ (BPOA) Boards to ensure BPOA licensure operations are conducted in accordance with the laws, regulations, and Board policies and procedures.

Responsible for evaluating, determining eligibility, and processing applications for initial licensure, renewal, reactivation, and assisting in continuing education audit for licensing Boards.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Examines licensure/certification/authorization applications to determine if eligibility should be granted for initial licensure, renewal, and reactivation of existing inactive licenses. Approves and processes applications for licensure, certification, examination, authorization approval, and assists with continuing education audit.

Evaluates and validates data in licensure/certification/authorization approval applications for accuracy and completeness of data and the presence of all required documents.

Responds to inbound phone calls and makes outbound phone calls.

Determines if inspection report should be ordered.

Determines if all licensure requirements on application are met and ensures inspection request is sent through computer database to Bureau of Enforcement and Investigation (BEI) for applicants requiring inspection.

Reviews completed inspection reports from BEI verifying status of the inspection.

Ensures submission of criminal documentation including certified court documents, police reports, employment histories, reference letters and applicant’s personal description of events to determine if the application is complete and can be presented to the Board (supervisor or Board administrator) for review and approval.

Researches and verifies licensure records for the Board and prepares Certification of Licensure with History.

Issues licenses to applicants who have met all requirements, passed the inspection (as applicable) and are eligible for licensure.

Prepares and distributes certificate of examination eligibility to approved applicants.

Researches and verifies licensure records and prepares letters of good standing.

Develops, prepares, and distributes discrepancy notifications to applicants not meeting the licensure/certification/authorization approval requirements as outlined by criteria in laws, regulation and policies.

Inputs application data into computer database and maintains status updates through license issuance process.

Distributes exceptional applications to the supervisor, manager, advisor, counsel, and/or Board administrator and performs all post review and follow-up.

Disseminates licensure eligibility information to public via telephone, electronic and written correspondence.

Interacts with applicants, licensing boards, bureaus, and/or state agencies to secure information pertaining to applicant licensure/disciplinary action.

Evaluates effectiveness of current forms used for the appropriate boards and provides input on the design enhancements to these forms.

Processes continuing education activity applications and refers those that require additional review to Board Administrator for eligibility determination.

Refers licensees that have not met the audit requirements or responded to the audit to the Professional Compliance Office (PCO).

Maintains application data and correspondence.

Adheres to Bureau Quality Assurance standards.

Performs other related duties as required.

Independently evaluates initial, renewal, and reactivation licensure applications and determines eligibility by validating a complete application package to ensure compliance with the laws, regulations and Board's policies.

Escalates licensing issue to supervisor and/or Board administrator for resolution.
