Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position is located within the Bureau of Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and supports the Bureau’s mission to improve the nutrition and health of families across Pennsylvania. The Dietetic Internship Coordinator provides administrative, operational, and technical support to the ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internship Program Director and reports to the Bureau Director. The Dietetic Internship (DI) Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day coordination of program activities in accordance with Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) standards and Department of Health requirements. Duties include assisting the Program Director with scheduling and coordination of intern rotations, maintaining program records and documentation, supporting communication between training sites and preceptors, and ensuring administrative processes are completed to support program compliance. This position functions in a support capacity supporting the responsibility for overall program management, accreditation oversight, or final program decision-making. All program direction, accreditation authority, and final decisions rest with the Dietetic Internship Program Director. The Coordinator contributes to the effective operation of the program by ensuring administrative coordination is completed accurately and consistently, and by supporting the Program Director in maintaining compliance with ACEND standards and program requirements. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Coordinates decisions regarding necessary program parameters required as well progress of graduate students in the program Serves as Co-chair for the Dietetic Programs Advisory committee Coordinates and assures required documents for all reviews are organized and available on SharePoint so easily accessible to all SA staff working with the PA WIC Dietetic Internship program. Serves as representative for the DI Program to promote necessary public relations to include colleges and universities preceptor sites and other Commonwealth partners., maintaining program records, and managing the DI budget in coordination with the DI Directo, Division Directors and Bureau Director Keeps abreast of and assures all Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accreditation standards, policies, and procedures are met and are incorporated into the PA WIC DI program in a timely manner and within the allowable time frame. Collaborates with the DI Director to create policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program to ensure fair, equitable and considerate treatment of prospective and enrolled interns (such as program admission, retention, and completion policies) Provides support, oversight and guidance to the Dietetic Interns Actively engages in scholarship and grantsmanship opportunities for the program Coordinate the Post-Master's Dietetic Internship program Maintain internship program integrity and accreditation and student records; professionally communicate and coordinate with program preceptors and others involved with the program. Provide student academic advisement and conduct assessment of student learning. This includes contributing to academic program assessment and continuous quality improvement processes in collaboration with Preceptors, state and state agency staff. Represent PA WIC in all activities and programs highlighting the ACEND internship Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds. Maintenance of program accreditation including: Timely submission of fees, reports, and requests for major program changes. Maintenance of the all-program’s student records. Maintenance of complaints about the program received from students or others, including disposition of the complaint. Works closely with the DI Director to assure compliance with DI WIC and ACEND standards Works with others in the Bureau on procurement for required dietetic internship needs, and ensuring administrative processes are completed to support program compliance. This position may be assigned to an emergency assignment to support the public health emergency response mission of the Department of Health. Emergency assignments could at times be received with little or no advance notice and may continue for any period of time ranging from a few hours to several weeks, depending upon the nature of the circumstance. The emergency assignments may at times be performed under adverse conditions and may require travel to another site other than the employee’s assigned headquarters for periods of time. Decision making in work processes: Decision making is made based on standards defined by my supervisor or the proper professional/technical discipline including professional nutrition knowledge. Occasionally may be responsible to find information to develop solutions or approaches. Supervisor’s input to decision making: Supervisor periodically reviews on-going work progress and results of some assignments. New assignments are performed independently based on knowledge of standards and procedures. At full performance level, supervisor reviews on-going work progress after completion or if there is a problem or exception. Employee has authority to change internal procedures or approaches as needed within the accepted professional approach. Communication authority: Position acts as a representative of the WIC program for the Department of Health. Position provides professional nutrition services and coordinates activities with others outside its work unit including outside of WIC and outside of the Department of Health. |

Experience coordinating training programs, clinical rotations, or internship placements preferred. Experience in program administration, compliance monitoring, or regulatory reporting preferred.
