Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position is located in the Bureau of State Operated Facilities (BSOF) in the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) and is responsible for performing a wide variety of high-level administrative duties to assist in the management of the operation of the State Centers. Specific emphasis is on the oversight, administration, and management of the State Centers Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) program, staff wellness activities and employee recognition activities. The focus of this position is to provide opportunities to improve the wellness and support of the employees working in the state centers. Staff that are supported by their employer have a higher job satisfaction leading to increase employee retention and better outcomes for the people we serve in the state centers. Also, to support staff who witness or participate in traumatic events, BSOF is developing a CISM program in the state centers by partnering with Department of Corrections. CISM helps staff handle the impact of any workplace event that may disrupt the present or future productivity of the workforce due to psychological stress or trauma. Incidents like these take a toll not only on individual employees, but on the organization itself. CISM services and wellness activities will assist in reducing absenteeism, improving morale, improving productivity, reducing employee turnover, reducing workplace injuries and disability claims and improve the quality of services provided to the people living in the state centers. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Specific duties and responsibilities include: CISM • This position is responsible for the leadership and coordination of the CISM program at each of the State Centers. This includes organizing 3 staff at each center to be trained in CISM. The CISM Coordinator will ensuring the volunteers maintain their training certification, developing a statewide policy identifying the types of incidents where CISM will be deployed and deploying staff as needed to support staff after traumatic events such as restraints, staff injury by a person who lives at the center and/or unexpected deaths. • The CISM Coordinator will also provide stress management, staff wellness and other related training on a regular basis at the State Centers to the staff on all three shifts. Staff Wellness/Recognition • This position is responsible for overseeing an enhanced staff wellness program which includes development of activities to bring in speakers, provide programs that support staff wellness. The Coordinator will organize a schedule of routine trainings/sessions for staff to reduce their stress and improve both mental and physical health. Trainings and activities will include trauma for the caregiver and stress management training, wellness recovery plans (WRAP), physical wellness events such as on-site clubs, nutrition/cooking demonstrations, and sports activities such as walking challenges, pickleball, etc. • Assist in developing the BSOF Employee Recognition Program. Lead and coordinate the BSOF employee recognition program. • The Staff wellness/CISM Coordinator will ensure standardization of staff recognition policy across the State Centers, develop and organize employee of the month/quarter/year program, a statewide recognition dinner including reception, food and gifts, and development of a monthly recognition program of job categories for example Administrative Professionals Day in April. • Will utilize wellness recovery plans in supporting staff as needed. Staff Credentialling • This position serves as the bureau level administrator for staff credentialling. This includes monitoring staff participation in the NADSP credentialling program, preparing reports on participation including number of staff at each level, progress toward certification, adding and removing staff from the program as needed and serving as a resource for the centers as they implement the credentialling program. • The Staff wellness/CISM Coordinator will also track the effectiveness of the staff credentialling program by preparing reports on staff turnover, contract staffing levels, recruitment and retention. • Trained to implement and monitor the DHS Mentoring program, which is designed to support staff as they learn their respective roles and responsibilities of their job through peer support. As a member of BSOF Executive Staff this position will participate in policy development, review and implementation. This position is required to provide reports on specific events to the Bureau Staff. This position is required Monthly and quarterly reports on activities related to CISM, Staff Wellness and Employee recognition programs to State Center, Bureau and Department Staff. This position will provide in person trainings and presentations to staff in the State centers, Bureau and department. This position is required to communicate effectively in writing and verbally This position is required to be proficient in computer software programs like outlook, word, excel, and power point applications. This position provides leadership to approximately 6 people to assist with CISM related activities This position is required to be QM certified through the ODP QM certification program and will be an active member of the State QM management structure. Performs other related duties as required. |

This position will function as a member of the bureau leadership team working collaboratively to provide support to the staff working in the state centers. Receives direction from and provides updates of work activities to the Bureau Director, Facility Directors and of other Bureau team members, given the nature of the work or issues. This position will need to receive referrals and recognize events in which the CISM program should be utilized and determine the type or response along with whom should respond to the event on 24/7 basis. |
