Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The purpose of this position is to protect forest resources and maintain State Forest facilities within the Rauchtown Maintenance Division within the Tiadaghton State Forest.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Assists in the maintenance of state forest facilities including roads, trails, bridges, buildings by cleaning culverts, and cutting trees/brush. Perform associated construction and maintenance work using the necessary tools and equipment.

Employee performs preventive maintenance and make minor repairs to the tool and equipment used in the work.

Assist in the maintenance of state forest boundary lines and signs by installing posts and markers, repainting marked trees and cutting vegetation.

Assists in maintaining the security and integrity of state forest land by installing signs and gates, removal of litter, and reducing hazards to state forest visitors.

Assist in the suppression of forest fires by removing vegetation, patrolling fire lines and operating portable pumps.

Employee may operate a farm-type tractor or similar equipment to maintain state forest facilities and grounds.

Employee receives written or oral instruction and work is checked by inspection during progress and upon completion.
