Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Provides skilled work in the operation of specialized equipment and/or vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more and hauling trailers in excess of 10,000 pounds. Also, performs equipment maintenance and other manual work related to the operation and maintenance of the Presque Isle and Erie Bluffs State Park complex. This position performs duties that are routinely executed seven days a week and will routinely be scheduled to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed for park operations and may be adjusted seasonally. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Operates vehicles and equipment which are used in general construction, maintenance or grounds work, including snow removal and cindering operations. At the Presque Isle State Park complex this may include the following: Menzi Muck A91 4x4 plus, John Deere dozer 450G, Catepillar loader IT28G, John Deere tractor 5300, Case loader 621B, Case backhoe 580, GMC stake bed dump, Catepillar backhoe loader 4 WD; GMC, Ford, and Chevrolet dump trucks; Chevrolet 14' stake bed, International 2554 6x4 tandem dump truck, Bob Cat Tool Cat, Marine Travel Lift, Case 1845C Skid Steer, along with various other John Deere tractors and mowers. Will haul trailers in excess of 10,000 pounds. Performs general maintenance to all park facilities and structures. Examples may include assisting in building gates, repairing piers and docks, replacing picnic grills and picnic tables, replacing charcoal disposal units, and installing or replacing park signs. Performs grounds maintenance activities such as sand removal and/or placement, beach cleaning, brush hogging, mowing, and snow removal. Digs trenches for the installation and/or repair of waterlines, sewer lines, and drain pipes. Digs foundations and/or footers for small construction projects. Loads and/or hauls soil, sand, stone, and debris. Helps with a variety of park maintenance tasks when not operating equipment. Examples may include picking up litter, cleaning restrooms, painting, tree planting, and garbage collection. Helps with set up for special events on the park and at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. Performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance work on equipment. Recommends equipment replacement and purchases. Cleans and services equipment. Completes safety checks and inspections of equipment prior to operation and maintains records of operated equipment including those of commercial vehicles exceeding 32,000 pounds gross vehicle weight, as appropriate. Demonstrates the operation of assigned equipment to other employees. Provides visitors with information about the park and local area, reports observed violations to park rangers or managers. The employee in this position may work alone or serve as a lead worker for a small crew of semi-skilled laborers and/or laborers. Performs other related work as required. |
