Work is performed independently and reviewed through spot check and examination of completed work orders. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 1. Performs skilled duties relating to preventive maintenance and corrective repairs necessary to ensure the continued reliable operation of vehicles assigned to the Commonwealth Automotive Fleet. Skilled automotive repair capabilities include problem diagnosis, routine service such as tune-ups, tire changes, repair or replacement of engine sub-assemblies and components of the cooling system, suspension system, electrical system, computer systems, heating and air conditioning system, fuel system, brake system, steering assembly, and transmission. 2. Performs State Safety Inspection. Performs all repairs necessary to ensure compliance with specifications for annual State Safety Inspection; records pertinent data on prescribed forms. 3. Performs State Emissions Certification. Performs all repairs necessary to ensure compliance with specifications for annual Emissions Program; records pertinent data on prescribed forms. 4. Incumbent acquires and maintains knowledge of installation, removal, and repair of vehicle telematics systems. 5. Incumbent coordinates availability of required parts necessary to complete repairs through stock clerk assigned to the Maintenance Division. In special cases, may be required to obtain parts through outside vendor. 6. Incumbent occasionally required to operate support vehicles such as forklift, wrecker, rollback, etc. to facilitate movement of vehicles within operational confines, or to assist with loading and unloading of volume shipment of parts or supplies. 7. Incumbent performs minor repairs to shop equipment as necessary to provide continued safe operation. 8. Incumbent maintains a clean and orderly work area at all times. 9. Incumbent must have a complete set of his/her own personal tools to perform his/her duties as required. 10. Performs other related duties assigned. |
