Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The employee is this position is assigned to the Maintenance Department at Selinsgrove Center and is responsible for the installation and maintenance of plumbing programs for approximately forty-six buildings located on the Center grounds.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

This is a skilled position which requires work to be done independently or in a team setting with limited supervision.

Installs and rebuilds or repairs pumps, valves, steam traps, pressure reducing stations, expansion joints, hot water generators, water mixing valves, repairs/replaces circulator pumps, thermostats and related equipment and systems. Repairs and replaces water mains not limited to valves and gaskets, as needed.

Installation of potable, wastewater and pneumatic piping systems using copper, iron, PVC, CPVC, and all other types of pipe and tubing.

Overhauls and repairs commercial and residential housekeeping equipment, sweepers, scrubbers, washing machines and related equipment.

Installs, maintains and repairs commercial and residential Dietary equipment, dishwashers and related equipment and systems.

Installs, opens and repairs all sinks, drains, water closets, water lines, wastewater lines, screen boxes, urinals, drinking fountains and all fixtures and components related to wastewater and supply water systems, the steam and condensate return piping and all related equipment and systems. Repair or replace water, steam, pneumatic and sewer lines, underground and above ground as needed. Work with Grounds crew to dig trenches for larger project repairs.

Installs, maintains and repairs plumbing related electrical devices such as float valves, solenoid valves, immersion heaters, butterfly valves, mechanical alternators, aqua-stats, thermostats and other types of electrically operated plumbing related devices.

Maintains a comfortable environment by performing any work that is required on the steam, potable water, storm water, wastewater, pneumatic and heating systems.

May perform welding and oxyacetylene torch cutting.

Cut and thread pipe, as needed.

Fire hydrant flushing, installation and repair.

Help mark all underground utilities to assist with PA One Call.

Participates in the asbestos abatement program on a voluntary basis.

Works from blue prints, schematics, written work orders and verbal instructions.

Alerts supervision to dwindling parts and supplies.

Employee will make estimates of labor, time and material needed in relation to assigned work orders.

Uses various power and hand tools provided by the Center.

Performs all work in a safe and professional manner. Works within the time frame set forth by the foreman and managers.

Performs other related duties as directed by supervision.
