Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position serves a wide variety of public relations, safety and visitor service duties designed to protect visitors, facilities and natural resources at Promised Land State Park Complex, including Varden Conservation Area.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Visitor Services:

Greets and serves visitors of the park on a daily basis, by providing all types of customer service, including answering questions, registering campers, collecting revenue and issuing permits for camping, cabins, boat mooring, boat launching, boat docks and shoreline mooring sites. Sells enterprise items, answers telephone and prepares outgoing mail and processes incoming mail.

Responds to general public inquiries on the park’s history, natural resources, facilities, and rules. Perform customer service duties by greeting visitor, giving general park information verbally, distributing related literature, directing individuals to proper park locations, taking information, screening and routing telephone calls. Composes letters, brochures, literature, listings or verbal instructions from the Assistant Park Manager for various tasks.

Operates the online reservation system and park spreadsheets on a daily basis. This includes: making, canceling and moving reservations for camping sites; printing out the after-hours postings, arrival reports for camping and pavilions, and registering campers. Maintains records and logs for all camping, mooring, and pavilion revenue and reservations.

Maintains bulletin boards and brochure racks at office and ensures the front office area has adequate printed materials, brochures, maps and park information stocked on a daily basis.

Communicates with other agencies such as the Pocono Mountain Vacation Bureau, Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, and the Bureau of Forestry to provide and receive publications needed for the distribution in Promised Land State Park.

Office:

Assists the Assistant Park Manager with office duties: files paperwork, sorts mail and performs a variety of other general office duties.

Files and retrieves materials per guidelines. Purge files per retention procedures. Moves folder files to containers and labels them for storage. Maintain general offices files, both hard and electronic copies.

Designs, reviews, updates and prints most handouts and signs necessary for daily park operations in public information and safety concerns.

Creates, reviews, updates most of the park-specific forms used to monitor general park operations.

Checks email and voicemail and forwards or responds appropriately, on a daily basis. Receives and sorts park’s incoming mail to ensure proper routing of documents. Prepares outgoing mail in accordance with postal regulations.

Composes, proofreads and types letters based on information provided from the Assistant Park Manager, Park Maintenance Supervisor, or DCNR Ranger Supervisor. These include, but are not limited to concerns of park patrons, ranger and law enforcement issues, and leased campsite correspondence.

Advises when office supplies need to be replenished. Keeps office "front of house" clean and presentable.

Miscellaneous:

Operates the park radio in accordance with park procedures. Use proper radio procedures, maintains radio traffic to a minimum. Ensures supervisor, ranger staff, maintenance staff, and clerical staff are aware of events in the park that may affect their job responsibilities.

Tracks Lost and Found property per established procedures.

Maintains a calendar for the park office conference room for all scheduled events, training, safety meetings, etc.

Accepts visitor complaints and directs them to the Park Management and/or Park Maintenance Supervisor or Park Ranger Supervisor.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Non-routine work is indicated by communication with supervisor and priorities are determined. Employee is assigned general office duties verbally and work is spot checked for accuracy. Performance of visitor services duties is reviewed through observation.

Essential Functions
