Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position is located in Employment Banking and Revenue Technology Services Office, Mainframe/Midrange Operations Division. This is a Computer Operator 2 position, which has the responsibility of monitoring and operating the state of the art RICOH print department. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Ensures maximum production time by verifying correct totals during the running of jobs and escalate processing errors. Identifies causes for program halts or equipment malfunctions by reviewing processing screen and correct the problem if possible or escalate. Operates the RICOH Process Director to set up print jobs, detect and correct errors in the print processes. Properly removes jams or other printer related stoppages. Performs general cleaning and minor preventative Maintenance on all printers. Installs toner, and waste toner bottles as required. Removes, separates and distributes all output from printers according to instructions. Check and monitor print quality of all output. Keeps current with new reports created by developers, and learns new procedures, if needed, for proper distribution. Ensures stock room is organized and clean. Notifies supervisor when printer errors occur or print quality is not satisfactory. Maintains and records daily meter readings in appropriate spreadsheet at the beginning and end of shift. Contacts RICOH Customer Engineers (CE) and explains problem encountered and assists CE as needed. Coordinates computer media input and output processes for information exchange and offsite backup purposes and ensures that the appropriate media is sent or received. Perform other related duties as required. |

Reassigns priority to jobs to optimize production time. Contacts BIS on-call people after extensive halts to explain problems, receives instructions and attempts to restart operations. Decides if supervisor or CE needs to be contacted to resolve peripheral problems. Resolves minor printer problems based on error messages received during print jobs. Assigns print jobs to printers by priority and size of job. Orders paper supplies as needed to keep stock replenished. |
