Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The Purpose of this position is to develop the knowledge and competence required to examine tax returns, schedules and associated documents thru training and guidance to ensure the timely registration and maintenance of business tax accounts.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Learn to retrieve Item Reviews containing internal requests from multiple work queues, such as Merge/Separate Customer/Accounts, Create/Reinstate Customer/Account, Reopen Account/Branch, Suspended Registrations, etc. Navigate various systems, including PATH, myPATH, and Data Warehouse (Bridges), and FDS to cross-reference customer and account information, verify IDs, and ensure accurate and duplicate-free registration creation.

Review all sections of incoming PA-100 Enterprise Registration Forms retrieved from the Registration General Correspondence work queue in PATH to ensure compliance with all requirements before transferring the information from the paper format to the internal Online Business Tax Registration in PATH.

Learn to examine and understand all suspension reasons for Online Business Tax Registrations received through myPATH before creating, reinstating, or updating customer information in the PATH system.

Learn how to thoroughly review customer financial history for the purpose of initiating the transfer payments and returns from one customer to another and validate ID types that prevent the timely processing of tax returns within the PATH system.

Learn how to create Expectations to generate appropriate filing periods and invalidate filing periods business addresses, legal names, ID numbers, and track registration statuses (Issued, Pending, Pre-Denied, Denied, Pending Registration) in the PATH system.

Learn how to compute penalty and interest charges on delinquent taxpayers’ accounts.

Learn to communicate effectively with customers via phone, email, or web notice in PATH to request and obtain necessary documents—such as Articles of Incorporation, Articles of Amendment, Articles of Conversion, and SS-4 EIN assignment letters—to support updates to their legal name, business structure, or ID within the PATH system.

Learn how to navigate the myPath website to assist taxpayers in creating and maintaining login credentials for the purpose of registering for new business tax accounts, maintain existing business tax accounts, update customer information and resetting passwords.

Utilize various technologies, including, Outlook, Genesys phone system, Teams, compose Web Notices in the PATH system and myPATH to communicate with customers and be able to leverage the Support ID screen sharing feature in PATH to provide support to myPATH users.

Maintain daily production by providing accurate reporting of completed, and backlogged work to submit for supervisory review.

Learn how to prepare and prep incoming/outing going for the daily mail run, creating mail tickets, opening, sorting, and distributing mail, prepping, and scanning documents.

Performs other related duties as required.

Learn to determine the appropriate action to take with work based on the work item type, information within the work item, provided reason if applicable, and how it relates to the existing customer or situation by gathering additional information as needed to resolve work items.

Learn to determine the appropriate method for communicating with a taxpayer.

Learn to determine the appropriate documents, work procedures, and protocols to follow based on the information provided by the customer before processing and updating records.

Learn to determine when multiple customers in Path and tax ID numbers require separating/merging and refer difficult cases to supervisor for review.
