The individual serves as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team with direct responsibility for developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating therapeutic activities programs as part of inmate program plans. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Serves as a therapeutic activities representative on a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Attends multi-disciplinary team meetings and provides recommendations regarding the use of specific therapeutic activities as part of the inmate's individual program plan. Assists team members from other disciplines in assessing an inmate's level of functioning in the development of individualized treatment plans. Monitors and reports inmate progress in accomplishing therapeutic goals. Consistently reviews and evaluates inmate therapeutic needs, progress, and ability to meet the prescribed therapeutic activities goals. Contributes to program planning, development, and implementation of individual and group therapeutic activities. Develops specifically planned therapeutic activities goals and objectives to implement the therapeutic activities portion of treatment program plans. Coordinates inmate therapeutic activities to be integrated with other treatment disciplines. Develops therapeutic activity objectives and determines methods to accomplish therapeutic goals. Conducts individual and group therapeutic activities and assessments, providing instruction, direction, and support to inmates. Implements and evaluates therapeutic activities' programming. Recommends changes in order to meet inmate's individual needs, interests, and abilities. Submits periodic reports on participation in therapeutic activities programs. Becomes involved in crisis intervention and resolution, as problems arise on the unit. Requests supplies and equipment necessary to conduct therapeutic activities programming on and off the unit. Coordinates and schedules the use of space, equipment, supplies, and etc. Perform other duties, as assigned. Essential functions: 1. Exercise therapeutic care, custody, and control over inmates 2. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing 3. Review and interpret information 4. Maintain regular and reliable attendance 5. Operate basic office equipment 6. Establish and maintain effective working relationships 7. Attend and participate in all mandatory training and/or testing 8. Work overtime in compliance with provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement 9. Travel as required 10. Be mobile over all types of physical surfaces and 11. Visually observe inmates’ activities 12. Hear and identify sounds (voices, whistle, buzzer, lock release, scuffling, sudden quiet) |

A majority of decisions are made independently; clinical decisions are made in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team and issues of a sensitive nature or those outside the routine are discussed with the supervisor. |
