Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The primary duty of this position is to operate heavy equipment, with GVW over 26,001 lbs for infrastructure maintenance and construction on the Pinchot Forest District. This position will also assist with wildfire suppression duties within Forest District 11. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. This is skilled work in the operation of specialized equipment and/or vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of over 26,001 pounds (such as, but not limited to, a backhoe, bulldozer, road grader, front end loader, wildfire tender, excavator, dump truck). Performs manual work when not operating equipment. Work involves active participation in equipment and preventative maintenance duties and performance of related work of both an unskilled and skilled nature. Work is assigned with general instructions on a project basis, and employees proceed independently in the operation of the equipment without further instruction or assistance. Operate vehicles and equipment for maintenance and construction of state forest roads, trails, and infrastructure. Operate vehicles and equipment for maintenance of grounds work, including grass mowers, brush mowers, snow removal, and cindering operations, as needed. Completes safety checks, inspection of equipment, and maintains vehicle logs and completes reports for review by supervisor. Analyzes and determines proper methods and equipment to complete assigned tasks in an efficient manner. Demonstrates safe operation of assigned equipment to other employees. Assist with wildfire control, prevention, suppression, air recon observer, and dispatch duties as assigned. Protect unique flora and fauna, geologic formations, and archeological features. Other Duties as assigned. |
