Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Employee performs semi-skilled work alone or assists a skilled worker in performing routine tasks in the maintenance and construction at Ole Bull State Park and Kettle Creek State Park. Both part of Kettle Creek State Park complex. Responsible for cleaning and routine maintenance of park buildings, including latrines, maintenance buildings, office, lodge. Responsible for cleaning and assisting with routine vehicle and equipment maintenance. Mows grass, operates weedeaters, pruners, chainsaws and various power tools. Does landscaping and grounds maintenance. Responsible for painting and staining buildings, signs, fencing. Installs and maintains fences, signs and campsite markers. Inspects and repairs playground equipment. Maintains trails. Picks up litter, cleans firerings and charcoal grills. Sweeps and maintains pavilions. Maintains beach area, shoreline. Assists in installation and removal of fish ladder, removal of debris from dam, causeway area. Assists with scheduled projects. Assists park maintenance supervisor and maintenance repairman with jobs involving construction, concrete work, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and masonry. Assists in demolition and removal of structures, repair of roofs and siding. Uses a variety of hand tools to perform needed tasks. Digs ditches, spreads topsoil and sand and spreads stone. Interacts with public, answers questions, gives directions, fields comments or complaints. Employee works for a park complex. Duties may include travel to Kettle Creek State Park to assist with projects, or general maintenance. Assists with clean up after high water events. Works around lake and stream, from shore or from boats. Paints and/or stains park buildings, signs, gates, etc. Is responsible for the safe and proper use of all equipment, power tools and hand tools. Completes all necessary forms/records, such as daily records, automotive mileage sheets, fuel dispensing records and leave slips. Operates two-way radio in accordance with proper procedure. Duties may include travel to Kettle Creek State to assist with projects, flood cleanup or general maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned by park maintenance supervisor or park manager. |
