Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This is practitioner level professional work providing psychological services at Selinsgrove Center. Position responsible for independent and specialized work in clinical, vocational, rehabilitation, educational, habilitation areas of the psychological services program for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Evaluates individual’s psychological strengths and weaknesses through various means including reviewing medical and social case histories, personal interviews, and observation of the individual’s behavior,
emotional and physical condition.

Selects, administers and interprets intelligence, neuropsychological, social development, achievement, competency, interest, personality and other projective/objective psychological tests to diagnose individual psychological disorders and formulate plans for their psychological treatment.

Collaborates with psychiatric or medical services staff and other discipline staff in developing individual treatment program plans.

Serves as member of multidisciplinary treatment team by coordinating team members in formulating, implementing, and monitoring individuals’ comprehensive treatment plan consistent with the established psychiatric or medical diagnoses and in accordance with the appropriate regulations, policies, practices, standards and clinical privileges relevant to the treatment of individuals.

Participates in treatment team staff meetings to discuss and evaluate individuals' progress in meeting their individual treatment program plan objectives and to plan needed adjustments.

Reviews evaluation results and therapeutic recommendations with patients (individuals).

Treats individual psychological disorders to effect behavior modification and improve adjustments by using various psychological techniques.

Testifies as an expert witness in legal proceedings regarding individuals served, such as Vecchione financial competency determinations or redeterminations, involuntary commitments, and general competencies ordered by the courts for determining suitability of alleged law violators being subject to trial proceedings.

Develops, conducts or arranges for technical psychological program service training and staff development programs for facility staff, and psychology residents or interns.

Serves as a mentor to Psychological Services Specialist staff, as assigned, to orient and assist them with problems arising from their work.

Prepares clear and concise written reports regarding appropriate recommendations, treatment goals and psychological evaluations.

Maintains case files on all individuals receiving services to include treatment session documentation, therapeutic goals, and progress toward goal achievement.

Performs related work as required.

Completes individual/group therapy for individuals residing at the center.

Essential Functions

 1. Evaluate, document, treat individuals’ psychological condition following standard practices.
 2. Actively participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team.
 3. Consult with community specialists and staff members, and coordinates care as needed.
 4. Follow all applicable regulations and guidelines regarding psychological services.
 5. Communicate and work effectively with staff, families, substitute decision makers, etc. as needed.
 6. Maintain accurate, current and legible records of individuals’ status and treatment.
 7. Share knowledge and expertise with staff, families, advocates, individuals, etc and advocate for individuals’ rights.
 8. Interpret and apply policies, regulations, directives effectively.
 9. Develop, prepare and conduct training in areas of expertise.
 10. May work in any area of the facility, work overtime, and travel as needed.
