Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Provides semi-skilled work in construction and maintenance at Susquehanna Riverlands State Park Complex. This position performs duties that are routinely executed 7 days a week including weekends, evenings, and holidays. This position will have a temporary reporting location at Samuel S. Lewis State Park in Windsor Twp., York County. The permanent reporting location will be Susquehanna Riverlands State Park in Hellam Twp., York County. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Employee performs semi-skilled work alone or assists a skilled worker in performing routine tasks in the maintenance and construction at a State Park. Assists a more skilled worker in maintaining and operating the facilities, buildings and grounds of a state park, utilizing various tools of the trades. Assist a more skilled worker in falling trees and delimbing branches, cutting firewood, using a log splitter. Uses Park tractors to move materials to work sites and mow grass, blow leaves, clean park roads as assigned. Operates and assists in the maintenance, care and cleaning of vehicles and equipment used throughout the park. Performs snow removal using manual and power snow removal equipment. Performs ground maintenance by mowing or cutting weeds or grass, using a riding mower, push mower, or weed eater; cutting firewood; picks up litter and trash; loads and moves materials in dump trucks or pick up trucks; cleans grills; sweeps paved areas; digs holes and ditches; cleans drains and culverts. Duties also include site preparation, seeding and establishment of new turf areas; planting and maintaining trees and shrubs. Paints and/or stains park buildings, signs, gates, etc. Responsible for the complete performance of general housekeeping and building maintenance by cleaning and supplying restrooms, office, and all other buildings. Makes minor routine repairs such as replacing light bulbs or tightening fixtures. Is responsible for the safe and proper use of all equipment, power tools and hand tools. Assists Park visitors in a friendly, helpful manner. Installs picnic grills, park benches and other amenities at park facilities when assigned. This includes hand digging holes and mixing concrete for proper installation. Completes all necessary forms/records, such as daily records, automotive mileage sheets, fuel dispensing records and leave slips. Operates two-way radio in accordance with proper procedure. Performs related work as required. |
