Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Responsibilities of the Workstation Operations & Technical Services (WOTS staff is to provide network connectivity support and end user support services to the Employment Banking and Revenue Deliver Center physical offices and tele-work users. Including the technical support of the Department's computer environment and its operation, which includes operating systems support, installation, maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting. This position is involved in the day-to-day services of a team of specialists assigned within the BDD sites and the northeastern region of the Commonwealth to contribute so that work is completed expeditiously and in the most cost-efficient manner to the EBR Delivery Centers various program areas.

This position is responsible for performing technical work in specific geographical areas of the Commonwealth. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Resolving all incident and change tasks within the assigned area of responsibility
• Completing all hardware and software deployments
• Maintaining network performance and reliability
• Assisting with all office relocations, including installation of network infrastructure
hardware and data cabling
• Assisting network architects in physical site planning
• Performing on-site inspections during the construction phase
• Assisting with major infrastructure project rollouts such as, router and switch
replacements, server upgrades and/or replacements, and providing project status
reports as directed.

Resolves difficult and complicated software and hardware problems. Serves as an expert resource on network connectivity, problem resolution and the installation and configuration of newly acquired or upgraded hardware and/or software within their assigned area. Assists at the more complex sites in resolving more complicated connectivity and performance issues and problems elevated from level-1 service desk and ITT staff.
Maintains broad and advanced technical knowledge of computing hardware/software, data cabling, networking standards, capabilities, and trends. Remains current with new technology to make recommendations to department managers on the technological direction of the network infrastructure.
Responsible to maintain the inventory in Service Now computer resources. The resources to be inventoried are workstations, printers, servers, and peripherals, bar code scanners and other devices that are considered to be part of BDD’s automated systems
Researches and evaluates new products/technologies for application within the commonwealth to improve operations and help meet customer’s (internal and external) needs.
Assists other divisions in the planning and installation of network hardware/software, including components such as routers, switches, racks/cabinets, UPS, modems, WAP, and wire management according to site design and department specifications.
Instills a commitment to quality and customer service by taking ownership of work and showing the ability to work independently and/or in a team environment as needed to complete tasks.
Demonstrates expertise in training and conveying technical knowledge to lower class technicians.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Upon the receipt of ServiceNow incidents or change requests, Specialists make decisions to resolve most desktop and network problems. The determination can be made if more in depth desktop and network problems require lead worker or supervisor assistance. The supervisor raises issues requiring additional input from other areas to the appropriate party or parties and provides notice of such issues to the managers.
