Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is responsible for maintaining, receiving, and distributing inventory within the warehouse, commissary and/or laundry area at the State Correctional Institution (SCI FAYETTE).

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Receives, maintains, and distributes inventory and/or commissary orders dependent on work location assignment. Including the use of specialized warehouse and inventory software.

Receives stock from vendors including documentation of receipt, inspection of materials, matching packing slips with purchase orders, and ensuring the safety of the product when unloading. Maintains adequate inventory by conducting periodic inventory audits. Ensures the inventory is stored properly. Distributes inventory to the appropriate location and maintains an accurate delivery log.

Processes inmate commissary orders. Distributes forms; receives and scans (if necessary) orders; verifies inmates account balance; stages inmate orders; distributes orders to inmates; and records all transactions.

Oversees inmates in completion of work assignments. Provides orientation, training, and work assignments to inmates; additionally, maintains attendance records. Provides input on inmate progress and payroll to supervisor. Conducts inmate searches for contraband and ensures the security of the work area. May assist in work assigned to inmates, including physical work. Oversees the distribution of new clothing and ensure the proper collection and distribution of laundry for inmates. Supervises repairs made to inmate clothing and using various sewing equipment and tools and maintains equipment and hand tools.
Operates various equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, hand truck, delivery vehicle, or other equipment to move oversized and heavy materials. Ensures safety and security of the work location. Secures all inventory items and ensures the work area is safe and clean.
Purchases supplies and materials. Initiates requisitions for stock replenishment based on inventory and the use of items through the SAP Warehouse Inventory System to ensure enough stock is maintained. Orders warehouse office supplies through SAP.

Maintains daily/weekly commissary reporting and documentation. Compiles and assembles individual daily sales data for submission to Inmate Accounting; inputs weekly inmate credits into computer system; understands and is familiar with inmate record keeping; inputs inmate payroll and pay raises; prepares reports on inmate progress; completes work orders as needed; and documents shortages/damaged items.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

7. Work all shifts and posts as required by operational necessities and emergencies
8. Work mandatory overtime in compliance with provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, with little or no advance notice, whether on or off duty at the time of notification
9. Maintain regular and reliable attendance
10. Operate basic office equipment
11. Use and maintain various equipment and tools
12. Maintain an active PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent in accordance with assigned work
13. Properly wear all portions of assigned uniform
14. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing
15. Establish and maintain effective working relationships
16. Hear and identify sounds (voices, whistle, buzzer, lock release, scuffling, sudden quiet)
17. Visually observe inmates’ activities
18. Administer emergency medical assistance to inmates and staff
19. Receive, issue, and control inventory
20. Attend and participate in all mandatory training and/or testing
21. Travel as required
