Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. The Portfolio Manager - Private Equity will be responsible for the following duties: (1) Assist in recommending the strategic direction and establishment of annual / long-term goals for the asset class / portfolio, which includes identifying and documenting portfolio construction needs; (2) Managing junior team members over time and establishing individual performance goals / objectives; (3) Assist in managing team’s consultant interactions as it relates to the portfolio / asset class; (4) Assist in establishment and oversight of a manager sourcing framework and evaluation of new investment opportunities; (5) Manage underwriting process for new investments within the asset class, in accordance with applicable policies and compliance requirements; (6) Manage ongoing monitoring of assigned external managers within the asset class, in accordance with applicable policies and compliance requirements; (7) In conjunction with PSERS’ OCC, negotiate new partnership and co-investment agreements, amendments, consents and other contracts, from a business perspective; (8) Provide support to the Managing Director of Private Markets and Deputy CIO of External Managers on special projects, as needed; (9) Periodically review and recommend changes to applicable guiding policies; and (10) As needed, lead / participate in internal working groups and committees. |

Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree and five+ years of relevant work experience in the investment industry, preferably at an endowment, foundation, pension, investment consultant or other allocator of capital. The Portfolio Manager - Private Equity will demonstrate strong attention to detail and possess broad knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative investment evaluation concepts. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative work ethic are essential. |
