Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Learns to provide tax examination and clerical functions in DOR headquarters (aka Strawberry Square), in teleworking status, and/or occasionally at a remote office location at the Riverfront Office Center (a.k.a. “the ROC”), administered by PennDOT (PA DOT), for DOR’s Bureau of Business Taxpayer Accounting (BBTA), Motor and Alternative Fuel Tax (MAFT) Division, Internal Account Settlement (IAS) Section.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

(Learns to respond to Right Now inquiries related to the MAFT-related tax types, including MFT, AFT, IFTA, MCRT, PA Fuel Transporter Permits, and other related action items concerning these tax types.

Learns to examine registration and renewal applications for the PA Fuel Transporter Permit program.

Learns to settles accounts of corresponding Monthly Carrier Reports, including the tracking and delinquency corrections of the above-mentioned applications and reports.

Learns to process MAFT Division refunds/reimbursements.

Learns to conduct Motor Fuel Tax (MFT), Alternative Fuels Tax (AFT), and IFTA audits reviews.

Learns to conduct MFT and AFT pre-license interviews and investigations.

Learns to review and process decisions and orders from the Board of Appeals, Board of Finance & Revenue, and Commonwealth Court.
Learns to review and assist to execute proper MAFT Division funding allocations to PennDOT.

Learns to cover the IFTA/MCRT decal transaction window located at the Riverfront Office Center (ROC) location (on occasion).

Learns to complete assignments in the MAFT General Correspondence work queue.

Learns to correct payment misallocations to invalid periods or stopping incorrect payments.

Learns to review accounts to verify whether credits need transferred or refunded/reimbursed.

Learns to process error reconciliation on applicable MAFT-related tax documents.

Learns to assist taxpayers in a suspended status by resolving account discrepancies and other clarifications.

Learns to direct customers to other areas in the DOR and other agencies as requested or necessary.

Performs other related duties as required.

Works under the direct supervision of a Tax Account Collections Technician Supervisor and, as such, learns to determine the necessary operations, corrections, and maintenance for accounts existing and doing business with the DOR and the Bureau of Business Taxpayer Accounting.
