Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is a twelve-month structured and specialized training program to serve as entry into a management position in the SCI Dallas Business Office.

The position will report to the SCI Dallas Corrections Institutional Business Manager.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

The Employee will receive individual training and on the job assignments in the following departments of the Business Office. Budget, Inmate Accounting, Purchasing, IT, and Warehouse areas including Commissary, and the Laundry-Clothing Exchange.

Budget - Employee will prepare and review Budget Projections to update Institution Management and provide reports. Assist with Medical, Education, and SCI accounts payable process to ensure all Vendors are paid timely. Reviews all credit card coding to verify the budgets are charged correctly. Work on ACA Standards yearly to update all files.

Inmate Accounting - Employee will prepare and review Financial Statements, IGWF Budget, and Organizational Balance for SCI Dallas Inmate Funds. Training will be provided to assist in the department when necessary to complete tasks including Cable, Cash Slips, Inmate Request Slips and Inmate Grievances and all other department tasks.

Purchasing - Employee will receive basic training for purchasing tasks that effect the yearly budget including coding and reviewing open encumbrances for the year and close them when completed. This will include Pre-Encumbrances, CI Orders, Fund Commitments, and Purchase Orders.

IT - An introduction to the work assigned to IT by the Business Manager and Administration Staff.

Warehouse - Operations for the receipt, storage, and distribution of items to operate the SCI Dallas Institution will be explained and the work recorded by the Business Office for all orders received. The Commissary and Laundry-Clothing Exchange Operations will be explained and the duties the Business Office handles for reimbursements, laundry contract and clothing exchange orders.

Employee will work in areas of the Budget and Inmate Accounting and provide coverage as needed.

Customer Service - includes providing or delivering service or assistance to ensure needs are met. This can be accomplished via phone, email, mail, or face-to-face contact in an office and could include such duties as: verifying information, resolving discrepancies or errors with institution information, answering more complex questions/inquiries involving researching information or explaining rules, regulations, or policies, and handling/resolving problems/complaints.

Performs all duties as assigned by the SCI Dallas Business Manager.
