Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The employee provides custodial and linen distribution services for living units, offices and other miscellaneous areas in over 10 buildings on 266-bed hospital campus.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

*Must follow all Infection Control requirements and the use of universal precautions daily.
*Must follow written as well as oral work schedule/assignments. Any changes must be discussed with and approved by the Supervisor and/or Manager prior to implementing.
*This employee is included in the rotation for working weekends and Holidays.
*Employee is aware that they are essential. Employee must maintain a good attendance record to assist in securing adequate labor coverage and must adhere to departmental call-off policy. Employee is expected to report for duty on all scheduled days. Inclement weather is not exclusion.
*Must perform all tasks in a safe manner by following established regulations and procedures in order to prevent accidents.
*Must know how to operate all Custodial related equipment and must be able to report needed repairs.
*Will respond to emergency type cleaning such as but not limited to flooding due to weather or sewer back-ups, isolation procedures, etc.
*Must assist in Shoveling snow, sweeps and cleans walks, and assists in keeping immediate outside premises and building entrances in an orderly condition.
*Replaces lights bulbs in general office spaces, living units, hallways etc. and reports needed repairs to crew leader or supervisor.
*Will assist with furniture moves and large scale moves such as offices/wards as needed.
*Maintains and keeps current on all job skills by attending staff development programs/training classes.
*Performs all Custodial and linen distribution related duties as assigned by department Supervisor or Manager.
*Must work in the distribution center to receive and prepare linens/clothing for delivery to buildings on grounds.
*Obtains and maintains CPR Certification and utilize skills as necessary.
*Use a computer for work process.

Essential Functions
: Provide a list of essential functions for this position. Example: Transports boxes weighing up to 60 pounds.
 
 1. Runs all required custodial equipment.
 2. Bends, twists, stoops, and climbs stairs and ladders.
 3. Pushes, pulls, and lifts objects up to 50 lbs.
 4. Reads warnings, identifies safety issues, and identifies and reports faulty equipment.
 5. Cleans up after isolation and emergency situations.
 6. Works in less than desirable situations. (EX. Heat, cold, filth etc.)
 7. Read, write, and communicate orally in English. Read, write, and count numbers.
 8. Communicates effectively with fellow employees, supervisors, and other staff. Reports any issues or concerns with their immediate supervisor/manager.
 9. Work overtime as required; subject to emergency call in.
 10. Use a computer to manage ESS function, access email, the electronic bulletin board and keep current on all mandatory training.
