Position Purpose:

The Pennsylvania Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS) serves over 500,000 active and retired public-school employees through its defined benefit and defined contribution plans. The agency has nearly 350 employees who serve at varying capacities including: customer service representatives, benefits processers, accountants, and investment and information technology professionals.

This position serves in a technical support role for all end user computing devices, including PC support, administration of devices and enterprise services to manage agency devices.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Provide support of the agency’s PC systems hardware, end-user devices, and software at PSERS headquarters and all regional offices.

This includes desktop workstations, laptops, tablets and mobile devices, and related peripherals. Along with audio and visual equipment in conference rooms and in other deployed areas within the agency to include headquarters in Harrisburg, regional offices throughout the state, and at temporary sites such as disaster recovery locations.
This position serves a support role for all managed services including installation, configuration, and maintenance of all PSERS Device infrastructure hardware components. It is also responsible for the installation, support, administration, and configuration of all software installed on PCs and all devices attached to PCs.
Help manage the incident response process to ensure incidents are routed to the appropriate support teams and escalated as required for resolution (desktop support, telecom support, server support, network support, batching unit, imaging unit, application development unit, etc).

Install, configure, and maintain PC equipment, printers and other computing peripheral hardware and their associated software in support of PSERS employees to be productive and work with optimized systems and software.
Helps create and maintain procedural documents and training material for support staff.

Administer Microsoft System Configuration Manager as follows:
• Deploy client endpoint images
• Distribute user and machine objects
• Run queries and reports for compliance and as requested by management

Coordinates with agency staff engaged in identifying operational problems related to hardware components & software (both client and server level) that impact end user computing devices; Work with other teams that manage routers, firewalls, and servers and other complex IT systems as required.

Helps facilitate agency projects such as hardware upgrades, office relocations, OS upgrades, etc.

Assists the Telecom Support Team with mobile device management and deployments.
Research, evaluate and recommend new PC hardware\Software\Peripherals as needed by the agency.

Responsible for providing incident report notifications in a timely manner to inform IT management and affected agency managers and entities of service outages.
Helps coordinate IT support processes for end user devices and maintain an accurate assets management inventory system.

Ensures agency compliance to the Commonwealth Information Technology Policies (ITPs) for existing software and end-user computing devices.
Reviews technical manuals and other literature, attends seminars, conferences, and training classes to maintain current with new information services, products, and information technology developments in PC, mobile, wireless, and telephony technologies.

This position will support the PSERS Board during normal and after hour support. Including meetings, board training and the remote audio\video solution.

Responsible for independent decision making relating to work assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

This position is identified as essential level 2. It supports many critical business functions and when there is a declaration of an office closing, emergency or disaster, the incumbent may be required to participate/assist in those functions to aid the business continuity process. As such, the incumbent may be required to remain at or report to work at headquarters or an alternate site and be available or reachable by telephone or other digital means during the recovery process. *

Responsible for independent decision making relating to work assignments.

Works independently with vendors and technical staff from the CTC, PACS, and other agencies as needed to complete assigned tasks. Work is assigned in the form of specific objectives by the section supervisor and is performed independently.
