Position Purpose:

At Codorus State Park, this employee is primarily responsible for taking payments at the pool ticket booth, using the pool laptop computer system or cash register, and following established money handling guidelines in compliance with the cash management policy. This position also assists the park's other clerical persons with a wide variety of administrative tasks necessary to operate a large park complex and the Computerized Reservation/Revenue System.


Description of Duties:

Duties of this position include but are not limited to the following areas.

Acts as the primary public contact at the pool ticket booth. Strictly adheres to the Cash Management Policy. Takes payment from the public and enters transactions into the laptop or cash register. Follows established money handling procedures including maintaining accurate cash drawer and using drop safe when prescribed by the procedure. Maintains proper records using daily forms, printed receipts, or cash register tapes. Follows prescribed procedure for opening and closing the pool ticket booth. Notifies the Park Manager of all current happenings at the pool ticket booth and pool area.

Works as a Clerical Assistant 1 at the park office, campground contact station and pool ticket booth to assist visitors with park information and entering park facilities. Answers telephone and written queries from prospective visitors. Takes messages, routes telephone calls to the proper person, maintains brochure racks, and operates the two-way radio to assist field personnel in emergencies.

Accepts and processes via the State Park's Computerized Reservation System; cottage, yurt, camping, pavilion, and group camping reservations in the campground office and park office. Computes fees, receives payments, processes refunds, writes permits, and accounts for revenue received and prepares bank deposits. Resolves computerized stay conflicts with minimal supervision; produces reports and analyzes for accuracy.

Types and issues mooring agreements for the park's mooring spaces, boat racks, boat dry storage, maintains mooring records, computes fees, receives payments, processes refunds, types and sends out agreements, notices, and correspondence to mooring patrons. Maintains waiting lists, helps complete applications, and answers questions regarding procedures. Issues launch permits, collects fees, and maintains records.

Assists with the receiving, sending, sorting, stamping, and distributing of electronic and postal service mail. Helps maintain all current and former files necessary for the efficient operation of the park.

Provides clerical support for Rangers, Lifeguards, Environmental Education Specialist and Park Volunteers when needed.

Helps to send out and file Special Activity Agreements, Letters of Authorizations, schedules and reports. Helps maintain an activity calendar, a lost and found inventory and correspondence related to such items.

Operates personal computers, printers, telephone system, two-way radios, postal scale, calculators, facsimile machines, copier and credit card reader.

Performs related work as needed: examples are assisting the public in completing forms, assisting in the orientation and training of new coworkers in the Park Revenue and Reservation System, maintaining files in the campground office, assisting with file maintenance in the Park Office, using the park radio system to relay information to/from/between park employees.

Makes decisions within the parameters of an assigned task. Works independently when serving park users and is held accountable by daily review of all funds received and deposited. When situations develop that are beyond the daily scope of duties the employee seeks guidance and assistance from salaried park staff, such as Park Managers, Park Rangers, the Administrative Assistant or Clerical Assistant 2.

The Park Managers assign additional tasks both verbally and in written form.

Work is reviewed for proper form and accuracy when it is presented for signature. The response of the public is also a very important review of the quantity and quality of work.
