Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. The purpose of this position is to protect forest resources, State Forest facilities and grounds maintained by the Jersey Mills Maintenance Division within the Tiadaghton State Forest, District #12. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Maintain state forest facilities including roads, trails, bridges and buildings by cleaning culverts, cutting trees/brush, perform construction and maintenance work using the necessary tools and equipment such as cement mixer, framing to pour cement for sidewalks, etc. Maintain state forest boundary lines and signs by installing posts and markers, repainting marked trees and cutting vegetation Maintain the security and integrity of state forest land by using woodworking equipment to create trail and road signs, install gates, removal of litter, and reducing hazards to state forest visitors. Aid in the suppression of forest fires by removing vegetations, patrolling fire lines and operating portable pumps. Maintain state forest buildings by opening blocked drains, repairing faucets/toilets, replacing bulbs, painting buildings, cleaning and maintaining of CXT Latrines on the Pine Creek Rail Trail and aiding pumping contractor for sewage disposal of latrines. Operate farm-type tractor or similar equipment to maintain state forest primitive campgrounds, state forest roads and the Pine Creek Rail Trail. Removes snow from sidewalks and parking lots using basic snow removal equipment. Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on tools and equipment used in performing job duties. Employee receives written or oral instructions and work is checked by inspection during progress and upon completion.
