Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Cleans and sanitizes rental cabins, restrooms, pavilions, and other park buildings. Work involves scrubbing showers, wiping down surfaces and fixtures, sweeping and mopping floors, removing trash from facilities and picking up litter. Work involves minor repair jobs of a routine nature, which are carried out with only general supervision, or more advanced work assisting a journeyman tradesman or maintenance supervisor in regular trades maintenance jobs. Performs preventative and operational maintenance of facilities, equipment, and natural resources including cleaning, basic repairs and adjustments. Performs routine building maintenance such as painting, re-shingling roofs, repairing spouting, flashing, screens, and windows, requiring the use of hand and power tools. Replaces bulbs, shades, switches; assists with electrical maintenance and repair; oils, adjusts and cares for electrical motors. Mixes cement and mortar, helps to lay masonry and chinking. Constructs cement forms. Assists skilled tradesman with grounds maintenance, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. Prepares and paints park buildings, structures and signs, and other wood products. Performs routine and minor maintenance to park vehicles by greasing fittings, checking, filling and changing fluids and filters, performing basic auto body repairs, and cleaning. Performs general maintenance to water and plumbing systems including, blocked drains, faucet repair and water systems winterization. Prepares soil, seeds, mulches, mows and trims turf areas. Transplants and prunes trees. Operates power chainsaws to fell and buck trees. Assists certified pesticide applicator in applying pesticides and herbicides. Maintains park trails. Assists with maintenance of water and sewage treatment plants and systems as needed. Maintains records of maintenance, vehicle use, fuel and other reports for supervisor's review. Operates and maintains hand and power tools. Removes litter, collects trash and recyclables. Notifies supervisor of progress, problems, and needs. Makes suggestions for solving related problems. Leads individual or groups of volunteers to complete volunteer projects. Communicates general park information to visitors when needed. Responds to emergencies by following procedures in Emergency Manual. Assists in lost-person searches, fire suppression, etc. Performs other duties as required. |
