Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The EES coordinates the development and implementation of environmental education and environmental interpretation programs, outdoor recreation programs,information services and public relations at Frances Slocum State Park. Work includes program planning, preparation, implementation, presentation, and evaluation. Position serves as volunteer coordinator for Frances Slocum State Park. In accordance with Act 153 of 2014, the employee in this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal, and Federal Criminal History Checks prior to hire, and every five (5) years thereafter. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Develops themes and programs and writes lesson plans to deliver special activities for park visitors such as environmental education and interpretive programs focusing on the natural history, historic and cultural events and environmental management issues at Frances Slocum State Park. Work includes program planning, preparation, implementation, presentation, and evaluation. Promotes and conducts environmental interpretive programs by leading guided walks, audio-visual presentations, tours, campfire programs, and field learning activities using, but not limited to, state developed themes focusing on natural history, green initiatives, historic and cultural events and environmental issues for school students, youth groups, senior citizens, handicapped and civic organizations, and general public. Responsible for the planning, promotion and implementation of GOPA and similar recreation programming throughout the park. Maintains relations with local and state conservation groups, Pocono conservation landscape, civic organizations, schools, and public concerning environmental learning programs and Department initiatives. Coordinates with the Park Manager, Regional EE Program Coordinator, and the Outdoor Program Services Division to develop, implement, and facilitate environmental education programs to include, but not limited to, workshops, seminars, and environmental problem solving activities. Plans, coordinates, impliments, and conducts teacher workshops using a variety od state and national curricula. Schedules programs and prepares lesson plans using the state park approved format and submits required reports on a biweekly, monthly, and annual basis. Prepares correspondence, program schedules, reports, articles, news releases, and other forms of media to disseminate information to schools and the public. Coordinates the park volunteer program, including individuals, community service projects and special park user groups. Helps recruit volunteers and coordinates the scheduling of duties and environmental interpretation at the park. Responsible for maintaining records, lists, files and prepares and submits Bluebird Box program, and other required reports by due dates. Maintains and coordinates use of environmental learning field equipment, oversees use of equipment, maintains and repairs equipment, and make recommendations for repair, servicing, replacement, and purchase of new equipment. Maintains personal office facilities, storage space, and state equipment and vehicles in clean and orderly fashion. Coordinates the hours of operation of the Environmental Education Center and center classroom, maintains the facility and exhibits in clean and orderly fashion, and ensures that the exhibits are in good working condition. Assists and participates in Regional workshops and conferences. Assists with planning, coordination and facilitation of on-site and off-site events and festivals. Assists with the research, planning and development of non-personal interpretive media, such as informational brochures and fact sheets, and interpretive exhibits. Travels to various work locations, meetings, and trainings. May require overnight travel. Wears and maintains proper uniform. Provides visitor services and assistance. |

Work is reviewed by the park manager through periodic briefings with the employee and during progress for adherence to policies and procedures and for completeness. |
