Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Provides skilled work in the operation of specialized equipment and/or vehicles to include those with a gross vehicle weight of 32,000 pounds or more. Also, performs equipment maintenance and other manual work related to the operation of the Shawnee State Park. This position performs in a seven (7) day week operation and may be scheduled to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Operates vehicles and equipment which are used in general construction, maintenance, or grounds work, including snow removal and salting/cindering operations. Operates tractor mounted grass and brush mowers, dump trucks, backhoes, skid steer, excavators, front-end loaders with a bucket capacity of less than three cubic yards used in maintenance operations and all attachments that may accompany all equipment. Preforms safety checks, preventative maintenance and inspections of equipment prior to operation and maintains records of operation. Operates required equipment to preform demolition projects. Operates equipment to accomplish resource management projects. Performs manual work when not operating trucks or equipment, including the loading and unloading of trucks. Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance work on equipment, or assists other maintenance staff making major repairs to equipment. Performs general maintenance to all park facilities and structures. Examples may include assisting building gates and fences, painting and staining, replacing picnic grills and picnic tables, and installing or replacing park signs. Helps with picking up litter, cleaning restrooms, cleaning cabins, painting, and garbage collection. Performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance work on equipment and cleans and services equipment. Performs grounds maintenance activities such as mowing, berm cleaning/repairing, clearing brush, and snow removal. Digs trenches and assists in the installation and/or repair of waterlines, sewer lines, electric lines and drain pipes. Digs foundations and/or footers for small construction projects. This position is required to independently travel to accomplish their duties. This requires the employee to drive a park vehicle on state or local roadways. Operates Regional Swing vehicles to include a Mack Truck and trailer combination with a gross vehicle weight that exceeds 26,001 pounds and which requires a Commercial Class A driver's license for lawful operation on the highway. Operates a tanker truck requiring a tank vehicle endorsement. CDL must not be restricted from the operation of vehicles with air brakes. Employee is expected to work independently with limited supervision. Progress is spot-checked with final results reviewed Park maintenance supervisor and/or park manager are asked for clarification of assignments as needed. |
