Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Performs a variety of tasks listed below, necessary to maintain and improve trails, boundary lines, State Forest buildings, roads and related facilities and equipment utilizing tools, materials and equipment common to the trade. 1. Design, construct, install and repair carved letter wooden signs throughout the State Forest. 2. Assist in the collection of trash or dumped materials as necessary. 3. Repair lawn-mowing and weed trimming equipment. Mow lawns and maintain landscaping as manpower needs warrant. 4. Maintain and repair buildings and related facilities utilizing carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, roofing, electrical, welding, flooring, drywall/plaster, siding and other similar maintenance trade skills. 5. Repair vehicles and equipment under the limitations of the available tools and skills. Clean and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles. 6. Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, parking lots and buildings utilizing hand tools, gas powered snow thrower and pickup with snowplow. 7. Purchase supplies, materials and parts from local establishments as directed. 8. Suppress wild fires as necessary under the direction of Forest Fire Specialist Supervisor, Forest Maintenance Supervisor or other appointed individual. Participate in the districts prescribed fire program; including pre-work, assisting at the burn, and mop-up. Other duties to include those for which you are Task Book qualified to perform. 9. Repair and maintain tools utilized in forest protection, such as, fire rakes, shovels, backpack tanks, portable pumps, leaf blowers, etc. 10. Assist with search and rescue and other emergencies. 11. Attend training sessions and staff meetings as directed. 12. Operate equipment as assigned. 13. Able to read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams. 14. Able to do cost estimation for projects. 15. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Functions-Continued: 11. Learn and follow safety regulations. 12. Constructs or repairs facilities. 13. Physical ability to fight wildland fire. 14. Mix paint ingredients or chemicals. |
