Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Under the direct supervision of the vocational rehabilitation education director, has the following responsibilities: Maintains constant awareness of problems within classrooms, shops or respective units which would cause an interruption in training and to solve them using whatever resources are available, making decisions consistent with the scope of responsibility. Supervises curriculum and lesson plan development by assisting vocational rehabilitation instructors in program development, course content, syllabus development, lesson planning and organization, examinations and training evaluation criteria, presentations and teaching techniques, and in making and using appropriate instructional materials. Suggests and helps to make changes and revisions as necessary. Recommends purchase of new and updated equipment and text materials. Evaluates vocational rehabilitation instructors’ performance by the development and use of valid evaluative criteria to measure observable instructor performance, i.e., method of instruction, professionalism, planning and preparation, teaching techniques. These assessments are made by scheduled classroom observations, conferences, in-service training programs and regular ratings of performance. Teaches new instructors the maintenance of a student records management system and the submission of periodical evaluative reports on student progress to other CTI instructors and HGAC Divisions. When necessary, assists with the process of obtaining training equipment and supplies, hand tools and work projects in keeping with the training program. Ensures that the preparation and submitting of valid grade and attendance records are made at the end of each term and upon completion of the student's educational program. Reviews textbooks, reference and other instructional materials used by instructors, making recommendations as necessary. Recommends out-service training, academic courses, and other training to instructors that will result in professional growth and development. Assists in arranging for field trips. Assists in the coordination of training program activities with other divisions to promote optimum use of rehabilitative services for the student. Arranges and participates in conferences and meetings with instructors and other staff as required. Assists in the resolution of student, instructor, counselor issues as they arise. As appropriate, provides substitute coverage for instructors during absences. Stays abreast of current industry production methods, materials, etc. used in the occupations taught by instructors supervised. Assists instructors in incorporating these methods into their respective programs. Serves as registrar for respective instructional units by monitoring student evaluations, grades, student progress, and input of grades and attendance into the Management Information System. Assists in directing, organizing and administration of the education office to promote smooth and expeditious flow of work through the secretaries assigned for this purpose. Assists in maintaining a harmonious relationship with CTI and HGAC staff to promote good labor-management cooperation. Studies, plans and expedites movements of classrooms, shops, and labs and coordinates with the maintenance department workflow to prevent unnecessary loss of time and interruption of instruction. As applicable, serves as the facilitator of grants, provides direction to instructional staff to ensure grant compliance. Prepares and presents orientation talks as required to educational, civic and service groups, intern counselors and nurses, new OVR personnel and other interested groups. Serves as backup for vocational rehabilitation education director and education supervisors and performs required the functions of the position. Chairs and serves on staff and other various committees as required and reports results to the vocational rehabilitation education director. Provides WIOA compliant and PETS related services. Provide CTI at HGAC tours as needed. Performs other duties as directed the vocational rehabilitation education director. |
