Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The employee occupying this position is responsible and accountable for operating a variety of medium weight, single chassis vehicles and maintenance equipment on and off the hospital grounds in support of various hospital programs, services and functions. This work is performed under the supervision of the Automotive Equipment Foreman. This position requires a CDL for vehicles and for Buses of more than 16 passengers. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Drives lightweight and medium weight single chassis trucks by following established operating procedures/safety codes/laws, in order to provide general maintenance/construction material support and seasonal snow/ice removal services. Employee has a Class B Commercial Driver's License with bus endorsement. Drives lightweight and medium weight single chassis vehicles including but not necessarily limited to, cars, vans and pickup trucks, by following established operating procedures/safety codes/laws, in order to provide patient transportation services and/or other needed transportation services to various functional areas of the hospital. Operates medium weight busses and other light to medium weight vehicles by complying with standards of operational practices/safety codes/laws in order to provide patient and staff transportation services on/off hospital grounds for various hospital functional areas. Deliver dietary items, laundry items, move furniture and/or equipment by operating the necessary equipment and by physically loading/unloading as may be required. Operates grounds equipment by following the established operating procedures in order to provide for the grounds keeping needs. This equipment may include, but is not necessarily limited to tractors, backhoe, skid loader, lawnmowers, trucks, chain saws, weed trimmers, power pruners, sprayers, forklift and asphalt applicator. Performs operational maintenance on all assigned equipment/vehicles by following preventive maintenance schedules, assisting mechanic in repair functions and maintaining vehicle/equipment records in order to ensure that all vehicles/equipment are operationally ready, meet safety standards and maximize equipment/vehicle life. Performs other related duties as may be needed by following the directions of the supervisor, in order to provide for continuity of services. These other tasks may include, but are not necessarily limited to, general laboring, housekeeping, and/or maintenance work within your capabilities. This position is considered "Emergency Essential" as defined in DHS Manual 7136.3 and must comply with all aspects of local Policy/Procedure 102.078. Performs other related duties. |
