Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This is a working supervisory position and part of the maintenance crew at Ridley Creek State Park. This position is responsible for the maintenance of buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment of Ridley Creek State Park. Along with the Park Managers and other staff, the Park Maintenance Supervisor organizes, plans, and oversees maintenance work in order to provide safe and meaningful experience for park visitors and park staff. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Assists Park Managers in planning, organizing, scheduling, assigning, and evaluating work assignments for all salaried and seasonal maintenance employees at Ridley Creek State Park. Schedules employees for equipment and building maintenance and routine operations, sets priorities, and procures supplies. Prepares work schedules and is responsible for the effective utilization of employees and Commonwealth equipment. Uses budgetary constraints as an integral part of planning for and carrying out maintenance projects. Thoroughly explains work assignments to supervised employees and provides proper training as needed to endure proper completion of the assigned tasks. Coordinates routinely with the Park Manager on all issues relating to the operation of the maintenance functions. Provides recommendations and solutions to problems and techniques for completing projects. Plans and purchases supplies and materials for general operation. Provides clear and accurate justifications on invoices. Calculates and plans and purchasing needs and quantities for various construction projects. Coordinates purchases with Park Manager to ensure materials are on hand before projects begin and within budgetary constraints. Assists in planning, directing, supervising, and evaluating special projects that take place in the park. Reads and interprets blueprints and shop drawings. This position evaluates employee work performance, prepares and signs Employee Performance Reviews for all maintenance personnel. Administers discipline as necessary and completes required documentation for personnel files. Interviews prospective employees. Review leave requests and approves or disapproves based on coverage, usage patterns, and contractual requirements. Reports abuse to the park manager. Responsible for the preparation and accuracy of reports such as automotive, gas/oil disbursements, and accidents and provides information for other reports as needed. Serves as the park's safety coordinator. Ensures all employees receive regular safety training and are using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) Ensures all PPE is services and maintained in good operational order and replaced as needed. Serves as the park's Right to Know Coordinator (RTK). Ensure employee workplace notices are placed appropriately. Completes the annual inventory of hazardous substances. Ensures all Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for all hazardous substances are on file and is accessible to employees in their work areas Ensures all containers, storage tanks containing special hazardous substances and chemicals are properly labeled. Ensures all new employees are provided with RTK training. Ensures all employees who use, handle, or are normally exposed to hazardous substances in the workplace are trained annually on standards, precautions, and emergency procedures. Maintains RTK training rosters of all employees who have been trained in RTK. Serves as the park's licensed pesticide applicator. Maintains certification in Category 23. Maintains and utilizes a thorough knowledge of the union contracts. Ensures adherence to the appropriate contract. Understands management manuals, bureau policies, laws, rules, regulations, and any other necessary related regulations. Attends park staff meetings and actively participates as the representative of the maintenance area for the park. Acts as working supervisor, assisting subordinates on any work projects and tasks in various aspects of maintenance and trades duties, to include, but not limited to carpentry, electrical, masonry, painting, and landscaping. Ensures that the park's sewage, water, and electrical systems are properly operation and are in compliance with all regulations. Coordinates with employees to ensure that samples and testing and being completed as required. Reports any issues to Park Manager. Demonstrates the proper use and maintenance of small and medium sized construction equipment such as tractors, graders, loaders, backhoes, trucks, and mowers. Demonstrates the proper use and maintenance of all electrical and hand tools, chain saws, generators, etc. Meets the public as required, giving information about facilities, rules and regulations, and related information. Identifies public safety hazards throughout the park and takes immediate steps to remove the hazard; examples include but are not limited to: Hazardous trees, facilities, infrastructure Keeps accurate inventory of tools, supplies, equipment, and utility locations throughout the park. May be required to work weekends, holidays and varying shifts as required.
