Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This is supervisory work in the Housekeeping (Custodial Services) Department of the Pennsylvania Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Home. Employee is responsible for keeping the premises, equipment, and facilities clean and in order at all times in all areas that are assigned to the Housekeeping Department. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Supervise the functions of the custodial services and employees so that all buildings are kept clean and pass inspection at all times. Maintain time records and schedule work assignments to Custodial Workers. Make necessary schedule changes to assure that all assignments are completed. Plan, conduct, and attend meetings, in-service training, and on-the-job training as required to promote staff development and a good working relationship among Custodial employees and employees of other departments. Make frequent inspections of custodial work performed by staff and order corrections and adjustments as necessary. Maintain records and requisition supplies and equipment needed in custodial care. Request needed repairs for building and equipment when observed. Conduct interviews and related matters for applicants for employment. Prepare position descriptions and ratings. Evaluate and counsel employees, both 3-6 month reviews and annual evaluations. Recommend disciplinary action when necessary. Develop and post a bi-weekly work schedule of staff assignments at least two weeks prior to starting date. Supervise the distribution of linen and personal laundry for the residents. Identify actual and potential safety and health hazards for residents and staff and take appropriate corrective actions. Attend all assigned QAPI training. Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts. Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally, including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings. Performs work in accordance with DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to supervisor. Use personal protective equipment when required such as gloves, masks, face shield, etc. Perform related duties as assigned. |
