Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Works within the Adaptive Equipment Department repairing and maintaining the operations of resident assistive devices.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Selects proper materials and uses appropriate hand and power tools to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the construction,
modification, maintenance, and repair of various adaptive equipment.
Fashions, machines, and assembles parts for special assistive and therapeutic devices adapted to meet individual resident needs.
Constructs, modifies, and repairs orthopedic shoes and devices as directed by prescriptions.
Repairs adaptive equipment and devices according to prescribed specifications to meet individual residents' physical needs.
Adjusts and operates machines and hand and power tools used in the shaping of metal, plastics, rubber, cloth, leather, and other
materials utilized in the fabrication and repair of adaptive equipment and devices including wheelchairs, scooters, carts, walkers,
contour chairs, body and leg braces, and other assistive and therapeutic devices.
Grinds, polishes, drills, and taps plastics, metal, and other materials.
Provides Nursing and OT/PT with all applicable items needed in resident care. Troubleshoots and repairs all equipment.
Transfers and relocates supplies as needed.
Meets with vendors to obtain supplies needed for residents. Orders durable medical equipment (DME) items as needed, and
maintains inventory levels ofDME equipment and supplies related to Adaptive equipment.
Works with other departments to ensure the completion of work orders in a timely manner.
Notifies the supervisor of any problems encountered in the completion of adaptive equipment work orders.
Supports the facility QAPI efforts by attending all assigned QAPI training; following established policies and procedures in
support of QAPI efforts; participates in PIP teams as assigned; shares ideas for improvement in the organization; and supports
QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally, including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives
and findings.
Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all
workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports
same to supervisor.
Use personal protective equipment when required such as gloves, masks, face shield, etc.

Essential Functions
