Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Supervises the administration of Activities Department Services at SCI Mercer.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Plans, organizes and directs a variety of programs to include structured activities, wellness and decision making, individual and team sports, inmate organizations, and volunteer resources. Arranges entertainment on a regular basis which includes; movies, musical concerts, etc. Supervises and monitors volunteer participation in the Activities department. Participates with Department Heads in organizing and scheduling volunteer programs.

Prepares requisitions for supplies and equipment and acts as chairperson for the Inmates General Welfare Fund in accordance with guidelines established for the expenditure of appropriated and non-appropriated funds. Coordinates and supervises Inmate Organizations and serves as the liaison between inmate groups and the Superintendent in developing and refining proposals for consideration. Serves as IGWF Institutional Staff Representative.

Provides daily supervision and ongoing training for professional personnel in departmental objectives, procedures, and responsibilities. Determines recommended working hours, completes progress reports, and approves scheduled leave for the Activities Department and assigned staff. Interprets Institutional Policy and Procedure to the assigned personnel of the Activities Department and cooperates in the coordination of the scheduled Activities Program for the institution and the Department of Corrections. Attends institutional and Department Head meetings as the representative of the Activities Department.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

11. Hear and identify sounds (voices, whistle, buzzer, lock release, scuffling, sudden quiet)
12. Attend and participate in all mandatory training and/or testing
13. Work overtime as required
14. Travel as required

Refers to Corrections Classification and Program Manager(CCPM) issues that effect other department in the institution
Refers to CCPM issues related to changes in activities department programming
