Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position exists for the operation and maintenance of state park facilities at the Laurel Hill Complex. This position contributes to the bureau's mission of protecting and maintaining the commonwealth's natural resources. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Assists in various jobs in the maintenance and repair of State Park tools, equipment, machinery, buildings, bridges and other miscellaneous tasks at the Park complex. Assists in construction, routing, painting, and installation of bulletin boards and directional signs for dispensing information to the public. Repair and replace floors, walls, siding, and sills, to new or deteriorated park buildings. Assist in masonry work to sidewalks, chimneys, and stone structures. Ability to assist in resource management work throughout the Complex. Mow grass using a variety of mowers and tractors. Operate wood working tools such as power saws, chain saws, sharpeners, jointer, plainer table and radial saws, sanders, drill press, routers, as well as various hand tools. Assists in repairing roofs on pavilions and various buildings located in the park complex to include: shingles, flashing, downspouts, gutters, soffit and fascia, and ridge vent. Operate various equipment such as: 1 ton dump truck, small tractor with bucket, mowing tractor, and other small equipment. Perform trail work including brushing, blazing, clearing and improvements to tread and drainage. Have general knowledge on electrical repairs and plumbing repairs. Other duties as assigned. |

Example: In response to a customer inquiry, this work involves researching the status of an activity and preparing a formal response for the supervisor’s signature. The Park Maintenance Supervisor or Park Manager assigns the semi-skilled laborer work for lead workers such as Maintenance Repairman II's. Maintenance Repairman II's and Park Maintenance Supervisors periodically check work. Employee is expected to be familiar with required procedures, policies and regulations. Special assignments are explained in detail both verbally and in writing. |
