Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Performs routine manual work and simple repairs in the custodial and maintenance of the district’s office building and grounds

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Washes and polishes floors
Cleans lavatories and replaces lavatory supplies.
Disposes wastepaper.
Makes simple repairs to building, such as replaces light bulbs, fixes chairs and repairs equipment.
Dusts furniture and fixtures
Reports needed repairs to supervisor and/or crew leader.
Vacuums all carpeted areas daily.
Shovels snow, sweeps, and cleans walks and keeps immediate outside premises and building entrances in an orderly condition and litter free.
Mows and trims grass around building and care of surrounding grounds.
Delivers supplies and runs errands as incidental assignments.
Performs other related duties as directed.

SAFETY:

2. Attend required safety training and adhere to the requirements of all safety manuals, policies, and laws.

3. Immediately report to your supervisor any incident, unsafe practice, or near miss.

4. When in an enclosed environment (office buildings, confined spaces, flagger stations, equipment pinch points, etc.), know your evacuation process and escape route, your communication protocols, and appropriately react in the event of an incident.
Succession Planning:
Take an active role in succession planning by completing a Career Development Plan in collaboration with the supervisor. In conjunction with the supervisor, participate in knowledge management/transfer by identifying key aspects of the job and sharing explicit and tacit program/technical knowledge with other employees.

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA):
Unless directed otherwise by your supervisor or manager, comply with stated work hours for the 7.5/8.0- hour day.

Decision Making:
Describe the types of decisions made by the incumbent of this position and the types of decisions referred to others. Identify the problems or issues that can be resolved at the level of this position, versus those that must be referred to the supervisor. Example: In response to a customer inquiry, this work involves researching the status of an activity and preparing a formal response for the supervisor’s signature.

Determine proper tools, cleaning solvents, and safety equipment needed for the job and determine proper cleaning product for various surfaces.

Work is reviewed depending on complexity of project.

Notifies supervisor of changes to daily activities that could result in lost production and informs supervisor of any safety concerns.

Essential Functions
: Provide a list of essential functions for this position. Example: Transports boxes weighing up to 60 pounds.
 
 1. Perform manual laboring duties; lift up to 20lbs and carry for at least 20 yards.
 2. Work in adverse weather conditions, such as heat, cold, snow, or ice
 3. Perform repetitive motions, such as grasphing, pushing, and pulling.
 4. Use ground keeping machines, equipment, and hand tools.
 5. Travel to various work sties, facilities, and attend field activities within the district and throughout the state.
 6. Operate and care for tools and equipment such as mops, shovels, lawn mowers, and gas trimmers.
 7. Withstand exposure to a variety of potential injuries such as bruises, cuts, scrapes, sprains, and straings.
 8. Withstand exposure to chemicals/fumes within Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) limits; potentially poisonous plants/insects, dust, dirt, & debris.
